SUMMER SKIN & HAIR SOS: Healthy Hippie Chick

Happy Friday Sassy Sistas!

I hope your June calendar has been filled with fruity sips by the pool, long lazy naps and memory making moments with those nearest and dearest. After a whirlwind Spring, we kicked off June with my family’s annual glamping trip to West Texas. My dad has been going there since he was a kid, then took us as kids so it’s even more special to be able to share that vacay with my parents now that we live in the Great State. We have minimal cell service and absolutely no wifi so our time is filled with grilling, watching the hummingbirds and catching up on great convo by the river and perhaps- saying nothing at all. Don’t you love being able to just “be” with those you love? My batteries are officially recharged! I didn’t’ even pack makeup. Yes, I’m serious! Ok, you know I don’t’ go anywhere without lipgloss.

With the Summer chillaxing also comes the bad tan lines from falling asleep on your stomach by the pool and chlorine dry hair that resembles a scarecrow. Our skin and hair needs constant attention during the Summer months even though we rather be on the low maintenance side. If you’ve followed SOS for a while, you know I become quite the hippie during June, July & August. We can still unleash our hippie chick and keep ourselves looking and feeling healthy. We don’t want to go into damage control at the end of August with horrible hyper pigmentation and split ends.

Here are the latest products I’m in love with and seeing amazing results:

skinceuticals-phloretin-cf__58391_zoom

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Serum

You all know I’m a serum junkie and forever on the search for the most effective one. I heard about SkinCeuticals years ago, but never got around to purchasing and trying it. HOLY MOLY!!! What took me so long. It’s the mother load of all serums and packed with antioxidants. Phloretin CF shields skin from damaging free radicals as it restores a more radiant, even complexion. I started using it at the end of May and can already see a dramatic difference in my skin.

BIOSIL

BioSil – Advance Collagen Generator

In combination to the SkinCeuticals, I started taking the supplement BioSil primarily to thicken my hair line after my sister recommended it. I didn’t realize in addition to thicker hair, it would plump up my skin. Proof that beauty, rejuvenation and health always starts on the inside. You can purchase it at Whole Foods.

alba-good_clean-scrub-web

alba BOTANICA good & clean toxin release scrub

We sweat more and our pores are overactive and creating more oil during warm weather. You know what that means? The dreaded blackheads take over! Yuck! For years I used the Swiss Ives Apricot Scrub and still trust that it is one of the all time best scrubs. This good & clean scrub by caught my eye recently in Target and the term “toxin release” peaked my interest. (The power of great marketing!!) This Spring I’ve been wearing more full face makeup than normal and spray tanning again so my pores have gotten super clogged. Combine that with the Texas sweat and my face needs a good scrub down exfoliation on a regular basis. Once a month doesn’t cut it!  Not only does this scrub provide great “scrubbing” action with the ground walnut, but the ten AHA-rich botanicals detoxes the skin to reveal refreshed radiant skin. I LOVE IT!

Loreal-Total-Repair-5-Damage-Erasing-Balm

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm

If you are spending hours in the pool or salty beach water, do yourself a favor and run to Target and get this hair balm today! It’s just amazing. There’s not much else I can say. It works. My hair feels silky, strong and shiny. Just go get it. It’s the best $5.99 you’ll ever spend.
