If your skin is all over the place with the sporadic spring weather, why not do a little self-care any day of the week? You know I’m a Teami fan for life since their 30-day detox transformed my health last year when I was in adrenal fatigue and had a clogged lymphatic system.

It’s important- no, it’s vital to know what you are putting in your body and our skin is THE largest organ so it’s equally vital to know what you are putting on your body.  That’s why I’m thrilled that Teami is increasing their beauty line….

I’m humbled + honored to be featured in  Voyage Dallas Magazine. I almost did the ugly cry when I saw The Coaching Sanctuary™ in print yesterday! It’s a testament to God and trusting His plan for your life. He gets the G L O R Y!!!

In LA, I only entertained the idea of coaching and had a client here and there. I had not fully “owned” that I was good enough, smart enough, equipped enough to do it. When we moved to Dallas and God showed me my “assignment”, I had to put my BIG GIRL PANTIES ON and step into it. Have YOU been there? It was less than 4 years ago when I started hosting the workshops and enrolling private coaching clients here in DFW.

WHATEVER YOU ARE WORKING TOWARD TODAY– KEEP GOING. KEEP STEPPING OUT IN FAITH. PERIOD.

FREE YOURSELF: Share Your Secrets

IMG_2059

Hello Gorgeous!

This past Monday night, Access Hollywood aired my interview with Kit Hoover for the 3rd time. What a miracle! I know it’s God because that rarely happens. Kit Hoover has two daughters and she was so invested in my story. Proves that not all entertainment news is vapid nonsense.  Many of you who have been loyal SOS followers may have been shocked to hear the deeper story of my tumultuous past. Now you know the true meaning when I say “my mess has become my message” and why I am so passionate about enriching the lives of women. My mission is to provide resources of hope and inspiration like this blog and the YouTube ChannelBooks and more tools on vision and affirmations are next on the list!

It’s not easy to reveal the gritty, ugly parts of yourself, but I do so bravely with the hope that other women will know they are not alone. Over the 5 year journey of SOS, I never felt God leading me to share my sexual assault story here with you all publicly. His timing is perfect. I probably wasn’t strong enough before to handle all the judgment and scrutiny that the media has put me under.

In my one-on-one mentoring, I have openly shared my story with women especially the teenage girls I have worked with. Several of them have been molested as little girls or raped in their teen years like I was. I do not want young women burying this and hiding secrets! Secrets are like poison to the spirit. I was raped at 16 and didn’t tell a single person until I was 31 years old. My entire existence in my 20’s was based in shame, fear and anger. I went from being the leader of my church youth group, head cheerleader, straight A student and overall confident girl to spiraling into alcohol, drugs, codependent relationships, promiscuity and mild eating disorders. Whatever I could do to either numb myself or abuse myself with destructive behavior – I tried it.

THEN THERE WAS GOD!

I believe there is a God shaped hole in all of our hearts. He is the only one that can fill it. Why do we put ourselves through the pain of constantly trying to fill it with everything but God?  Aside from the drugs and alcohol, I tried to fill it with horrible men, money, career, fame, etc. I truly believe He was watching over me all those years because I really should be dead. I’ve ended up in dark places in the middle of Hollywood doing drugs with people I didn’t even know. That night in 2002 on the bathroom floor, it took one simple prayer and God heard me. Did everything magically turn blissful that night? HECK NO! It’s been a long journey of healing. Growing out of the old behavior is gut wrenching hard, but freedom is on the other side and that’s my wish for all women. There’s too many living in bondage!

Is that you? I encourage you to acknowledge your pain, stop ignoring it, burying it or covering it up with the masks you wear. I was the queen of masks! I could be whatever you needed me to be. I was addicted to approval and got myself into toxic situations because I didn’t love myself and silenced my voice. It’s time for you to use your voice and begin loving yourself, sista. By no means am I totally empowered 24/7 and have my moments of weakness, but I’m proud of the woman I am today. I’m a work in progress and I’m ok with that. Use your lady balls and start strutting toward the path of freedom. The pain path will turn into the purpose path. I guarantee it.

Here’s the Access Hollywood interview if you missed it:

I want to be clear that I do not use being raped as a cop out for my decision to do topless love scenes on the Cinemax series. A few people have insinuated that on social media. Yes, I made several unwise decisions based in fear and I would never do an acting job like that now. I was desperate to work as an actress and own that I took my clothes off. Most of the actresses I admire have done much more explicit love scenes with full frontal nudity. It was a Rated R series and do not take on the media’s label of “porn star”.

Are you ready to live in freedom on the path toward your purpose? Make a comment and let us know. There’s power in sharing it with others!

I will be private coaching again during the summer so if you’re interested send a request through the CONTACT PAGE.

Also, get ready for the popular SOS Summer Beachbag Giveaway mid June! All of my favorites in one bag.

TUNE IN NOTICE TONIGHT: My Past For A Purpose On Access Hollywood

Happy Monday Sistas!

You’ve heard me say a time or two that there are “no expiration dates on our dreams”.  I just experienced this in a major way! Tonight, you will hear how I am owning my past and using it all for a purpose on ACCESS HOLLYWOOD at 6:30 CST. What a surreal moment to be interviewed in my old stomping grounds by host Kit Hoover! It was such a blessed and heartfelt conversation about the sexual abuse I have overcome. Kit has two daughters and was totally invested in the interview and how we can empower young women with my story. Amazing how God can use a drama-filled reality show for His glory.

The day was extra special because I shared this experience with my sister, Natalie. We moved to LA together and did the hustle and struggle together for years.

Also, make sure to tune in to Real Housewives Of Dallas tonight at 9pm CST. It gets really heated and I have had enough of all the drama. You will see a side of me you have and never will see on my videos! LOL. I’m human and this is a REALity show. I didn’t hold anything back, but please give me some grace when you watch! I even scare myself a bit. Eeeek.

If you’re on Twitter, make sure to tweet me and let me know your thoughts! @TiffanyHendra

SICK OF YOUR LOOK? 5 Ways To Get Out Of A Beauty Rut

Do you cringe when you see a photo of yourself because you’ve had the same old look since 1995?

Are you itching for a beauty change, but not quite sure what to do?

Can’t gather the courage to make a change?

As your personal cheerleader and instigator of change- here are 5 ways I get myself out of a beauty rut and if you’ve been watching me webisodes for a while you know I’m not afraid to change my hair. That’s the easiest and fastest way to make a transformation. I think I’ve had every hair color possible except pink or purple.

Here’s your nudge…

sephora

1) PLAY IN MAKEUP

On your day off, take an hour to play in makeup at Sephora and ask a makeup artist or consultant to give you some fresh ideas. It can be overwhelming and confusing because there are so many makeup lines. Try different color palettes that you normally do. If your skin has been dull and ruddy, test some new illuminating foundations and powders. I tend to lean toward muted colors on the lip, but it always makes me look washed out in photos. With the holiday parties around the corner, try a brighter red lip for fun.

2) GET YOUR HAIR DID

This is a difficult one for most women, but it’s also very liberating when we just go for it. There’s something emotional about cutting our hair. I’ve cut my hair in a pixie, a bob, a faux hawk (yes, in my Hollywood days when I realized I was miserable) and it’s been every shade between black and blonde. I am usually itching for a change by Fall and recently had my bangs cut and ombre highlights. That little change helped me get out of my beauty rut from the Summer. If you can’t do a total style change- at least try a more vibrant or lighter/darker version of your current color and try a few extra layers or change your part.

3) CREATE A SPA IN YOUR SHOWER

With the change of season, I tend to get bored with the cleansers, body washes and lotions I’ve been using during Summer. Try a new aromatic healthy body wash that creates a spa-like vibe in the shower. Plus, if you have dry skin it’s best to change up your body washes and lotions for winter. Look for hydrating and moisturizing brands like Whish Coconut Body Wash from Nordstrom. The ingredient list is so yummy! Also, the pH levels change in our skin with the change of seasons. This is an important time of year to pay special attention to our skincare regimen so if you’re in a rut- try a new cleanser. I recently started using the chemical free, all natural, aloe based skincare line – Hard Night/Good Morning by D’Andra Simmons. I especially love the AM Cleanser!  It’s an antioxidant rich exfoliating cleanser enhanced with jojoba beads to gently slough off dead skin cells and leave skin glowing. You feel like you’re giving yourself an at home mini facial every single day!

4) SWITCH UP YOUR SCENT

I had an interesting chat with some ladies a few weeks ago. We discussed who wore their same scent year around compared to those who squirted a different scent every time they walked out the door. How about you? Have you worn a signature scent all your life or do you switch it up? When I was a teen, my first favorite perfume was Tatiana by DVF named after her daughter. I wore it for years. I tend to stick to one scent until I get into a rut and am completely sick of it. I remember going through the Angel by Thierry Mugler phase. I wore it to death and can barely stand to smell it now. Sorry if that’s your fave! But if you’re in a rut, take some time to experiment and squirt some new fragrances on your trip to Sephora

5) FAKE IT DON’T BAKE IT

By now, your Summer glow has turned to pasty white so add some color with a great self tanner. Nothing makes you feel better -instantly- like a tan. In fact, I’m about to exfoliate and shower then apply a good coat of the Banana Boat above. I prefer doing this at night before bed so you awake with a glow. Make sure to wear a long sleeve tee and long pajama pants to keep the color on your skin and off your sheets.

These five tips help me tremendously and I hope they help you too!  I know it takes courage to try new things even something as simple as a new hair color, but the beauty of hair is that it always grows back and you can always change the color. What have you got to lose? You may gain a fabulous new look. Life is too short to live with the same hairstyle each decade! Just sayin’…

10 THINGS TO QUIT DOING TO YOURSELF

photo-266

Hellooo Sassy Pants!

It’s Monday and here is your official ‘kick-in-the-bootie’ motivation. Usually, I give you a to-do list, but today I’ve got ten things we need to all QUIT doing:

1. QUIT PUTTING YOUR NEEDS/WANTS/DESIRES ON THE BACK BURNER. Women can fall easily in that “martyr mentality” and glorify how much they do for everyone else. There is nothing glorious about sacrificing yourself to the point that you no longer recognize yourself. When we take care of ourselves – we are strong, grounded and equipped to do for others. You want to go on a nature walk? Make it to that yoga class? JUST GO, GIRL.. and quit saying you don’t have time. You’ll be a happier, more peaceful-  mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter and co-worker.

2. QUIT BEATING YOURSELF UP. You are not a punching bag. You are a beautiful human being and child of God. We all make mistakes. Forgive yourself, learn the lesson and move on. Take off the gloves and quit reliving it.

3. QUIT HANGING OUT WITH NARCISSISTIC OR NEGATIVE PEOPLE. This seems like a ‘no brainer’ so why do we do it? Life is too short to waste time with people who drain the life out of you or do not value your worth. We all know those people who talk incessantly about themselves and can’t stop long enough to ask you how you’re doing. These people don’t get a lunch invitation from Tiff. Just sayin’. It always shocks me that someone can’t ask three simple words – how are you?  Those three words go a long way in my book!

4. QUIT COMPARING YOURSELF TO EVERYONE. You, your gifts & talents, your path, your beauty, your voice & accent, your style, your ism’s, your laugh, your heart – all make up one pretty awesome chick so what’s the point in comparing yourself to anyone. Quit making yourself crazy, girl.

5. QUIT TRYING TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF. Your true friends ‘get’ you and who cares what your haters think. When I moved to Dallas, where most women are mothers, I found myself trying to explain why my husband and I didn’t have kids. I never realized there could be a prejudice toward childless couples. I would go on & on about how we work with orphans and it’s God’s will for our life and how we briefly tried to get pregnant, but never wholeheartedly wanted to have kids. I got over that quick. If someone has a problem with us because we don’t have kids- that’s their problem, not ours.

6. QUIT TRYING TO MAKE EVERYTHING APPEAR PERFECT. The Stepford Wife Syndrome is still alive and kickin’. Perfect is boring. Be real… it’s way more interesting. Quit killing yourself trying to keep up appearances. It’s just stupid, really.

7. QUIT PUTTING UP WALLS. We’ve all been hurt by family, friends, boyfriends, spouses, bosses. Allow yourself to heal by forgiving them and moving on. When we put up walls we often sabotage  potentially great new relationships. Plus, being bitter, closed off and hardened is not pretty.

8. QUIT STARVING YOURSELF. I’m guilty of running around and not stopping long enough to eat a nutrient rich meal. Busy women either go without or they shove a bag of candy down their throats for the sugar rush. QUIT THIS PLEASE! Love yourself enough to stop and fill your tank with a healthy meal. Depriving our bodies leads to so many other problems from illness to depression.

9. QUIT LIVING IN THE PAST OR TOO FAR IN THE FUTURE. This is part of the human condition we all suffer. It is virtually impossible for most people to be fully present 24/7. It’s important to be conscious of how much we are dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Catch yourself and stop your thoughts. Be present. Look around you. Listen to your breathing. Take a deep breath and exhale it long and slowly. This will bring you back to the moment. Women do not breathe deep enough.

Do Me A Favor…………Right Now………………Inhale………………Exhale………………..Smile.

10. QUIT COMPLAINING. This really needs no explanation. Just quit it and watch your blessings flow.

Which of these resonated with you the most?

Have a fabulous week!

Love, Tiff
