HEY YOU! It’s OK to be Beautiful

Happy Friday Fabulous Ones!

One of my absolute favorite things to do is spend time with women who are fully living their purpose. These women exude confidence, passion and an indescribable radiance. Yesterday, I had the blessing of spending much of the afternoon and evening with a beautiful Australian woman with all of these qualities. It was a true gift to glean from her wisdom and experience. I’m thrilled to introduce you to Simone Leslie!  This statuesque stunning blonde is a mom, wife, author, speaker, minister and master neuro strategist. Her journey is one that I relate to and I know you will to. I could not wait to light a candle and dive into her book this morning! It draws you in with inspiring photography, quotes and easy-to-read short stories that crack open your heart.  Plus, her book is complimented with a touching song that is like salve to the soul and speaks to a woman’s worth–  appropriately called “Beautiful”.

Simone Leslie was presenting to millions on national television in her early 20’s and friends thought she had the world at her feet, yet behind the confident mask was a broken hearted, suicidal little girl. Her book, It’s OK to be Beautiful – Heavenly whispers to a Broken Heart has touched and healed thousands of lives. Written in a neurological way, this book addresses the root cause of depression and anxiety disorders. Designed to create a shift in the core programming levels of the brain, these short stories and revelations will make you laugh and cry but most of all, allow you to see yourself through the eyes of love and truth, bringing healing and wholeness, setting up the foundation of success.

“Most often the thing that limits us from achieving our dreams and goals is not the lack of knowledge or ability; it’s within our very own brain. The beliefs & neural programs we run off, what we subconsciously believe about life, what we deserve, our worth & core identity. Be it personal or business and professional outcomes, the process for breaking through to our desired outcomes always involves the discovery of limiting neurological pathways. We can then rewire them to create smooth and empowering neural programs that deliver exponential results!” Simone explains.

Occasionally you will read a book that seems to understand who you are and where you are at. It can leave a profound mark on your soul and change your path for good. This book is a raw gem offering transparency and truth taking you on an eventful journey that offers healing, understanding and love, pointing you toward your own profound revelation and change. This book makes the perfect gift for the women in your life who desires to step into their destiny! Get it on Simone’s website or on Amazon.

MEET CHRISTINE HANDY: Author of “Walk Beside Me” — Giveaway

30

What prompted you to share your story in book form?  I felt like by sharing my story I could promote friendship in a world full of woman tearing each other down. I felt that showing truth about how fulfilling female relationships could be could transform womans lives. I felt a nudge to show the awe inspiring glory of Gods earthly angels and the power they can have in our lives to uphold us when we have no pavement below our feet. If I could help one life then the power of the written word was worth it. To encourage even one person to stand up to a doctors misdiagnosis, a doctors arrogance and bullying then my book would be worth it.

How has the writing experience helped you grow and heal even more?  The writing experience has helped me grow emotionally and spiritually. God gave me the book I always wanted to write. Writing a book had always been my life’s dream.  It may not have been the story I dreamt of writing, but it was Gods story and I had to be faithful. The writing process was also healing to a mountain of open wounds I had from the doctors that bullied me to the daunting chemo that I had to endure. My story is a powerful tale and writing it after I lived it helped me see it in a different light. A light that gave me hope and showed me my own bravery.

What’s the core message you want readers to be inspired by from your story? My core message in Walk Beside Me is about friendship. the true power of friends. Not friends who stand by you for a few days but friends who never forsake you and stand by you season after season. Its a story of friends that sustain and carry you when you cant carry yourself. It’s a story about woman never giving up on one and sacrificing so much of their own lives for that one person without any need for thanks. The only thanks these woman wanted was to glorify God.

If you could pick just one line from the book– what would it be and why? My favorite line in my book is this. “ your being, your love, your gratitude – that’ s your music. It takes place inside of you, and you are the machine that can play. There’s no other instrument like you, nowhere in the world. That’s what makes you unique.”

What’s next for you? What are you working on now?  I am working on the sequel to Walk Beside Me right now. I am about half way through and it’s so exciting. The story is very different than the first, its the after illness life. Its very dramatic and full of life so to speak, a real page turner. I am speaking Nationally on my book and on empowering woman and other topics such as bullying and how to be unstoppable. I am also doing a book tour this fall. Its all very positive and life giving. Its been very rewarding to be out in the world living after being sick and in bed for so long. I feel lucky and I feel ALIVE.

Unfulfilled Potential Sucks

FullSizeRender-54

Just saying the words “unfulfilled purpose” makes me cringe! Who wants to die with their music still inside them? NO ONE! Finding our purpose is a common topic these days in the self-development world. We are all longing and searching for more fulfillment in our life. We crave a sense of purpose and want that fire in our belly when we wake up in the morning. We usually find our purpose on the road (usually a very bumpy, winding one) of growth.

How about you?

Are you living fully in your purpose or are you on a journey of seeking it?

Do you place your personal growth as a priority?

Are you intentional about it or are you meandering through life?

If you have been part of SOS for a while, you know I am mega-passionate about my personal growth journey. I adopted the philosophy that if you’re not growing you’re dying. At this stage of my journey, it’s more excruciating for me to stay stagnant than it is to go through the pain of growth and change. I’ve often written and spoken about vision, goal and intention setting, affirmations and just about every tool that will help us move forward. Ok, I’m a bit obsessed. Maybe it’s because I’m a late bloomer and I’m trying to make up for many lost years when I was fooling around and chasing all the wrongs things. I digress.

I see the greatness in people. I see their potential. I want to yank it out of them. But, as much as I can encourage others and give them tools- ultimately, they have to do the work just like I have to do my work. I don’t know about you, but I want to become ALL not some, not a little, not a glimpse, but all that God created me to be. I believe when we embrace that and move confidently toward it — we honor Him.

For the past six or seven years, I take the month of January to focus on this work. It’s important to me that I seek God for guidance and reveal the areas that I really need to focus on. Remember, everyone’s journey is different. At times we are white knuckled and scaling the mountain then we are tip toeing through the daisies in the valley. So, please never judge where you are in your journey to someone else. I read something the other day to the effect of “don’t judge your chapter 2 to someone else’s chapter 22”. Give yourself grace in this process. Heck, just be glad you are in the process, period.

I’ve been reading a ton this month and just had to share this ah-mazing book by John C. Maxwell called THE 15 INVALUABLE LAWS OF GROWTH. His books are always filled with nuggets of wisdom, but this one has especially made an impression on me. He has taken everything he has garnered over 50 years in the personal development industry and shares it in this one book. IT’S SO FREAKIN’ GOOD!!!

FullSizeRender-53

Here’s a few of the Laws:

  • The Law of the Mirror: You Must See Value in Yourself to Add Value to Yourself
  • The Law of Awareness: You Must Know Yourself to Grow Yourself
  • The Law of Modeling: It’s Hard to Improve When You Have No One But Yourself to Follow
  • The Law of the Rubber Band: Growth Stops When You Lose the Tension Between Where You are and Where You Could Be
  • The Law of Contribution: Developing Yourself Enables You to Develop Others

This is the perfect book to read at the beginning of the year to set your mind in the right direction! Get it on Amazon then grab a highlighter, a cup of coffee and get to work.

Don’t prolong the pain of being stagnant and your potential being unfulfilled. Growth and change is a choice.

WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE TODAY?

Please share this with any girlfriends who are also serious about growing on purpose.

If you read the book, please stop back by and let me know what you think!

Love, Tiff

SUSIE AUGUSTIN: She’s A Sexy, Fit & Fab Siren {Giveaway}

Susie headshot

It’s hard to believe that only 18 months ago I became a Bestselling Author! This was unexpected and truly a gift from God. In Sexy, Fit & Fab at Any Age! I share my stories and challenges to inspire women to develop their essences, exude confidence, embrace their true selves and feel extraordinary. But during the creation of the book, I started experienced obstacles. I went from losing 30 pounds, being in what I thought was fabulous shape, and looking and feeling confident and sexy, to feeling “off”.

I was suffering from female health issues, fatigue, weight gain, and ended up having a hysterectomy. During my recovery, my 83-year-old mom was hospitalized, had three surgeries, her heart gave out and she passed. Also, I found that I might be a victim of identity theft. It would have been easy to let what was going on in my personal life define me and focus on recovery. Instead, I chose to put aside the way I felt and continued to move forward with my goals to make my dreams come true. I’d lost my book savings due to being on Disability, I had no credit and no budget. But what I did have was perseverance and passion. I started my publishing company Get Branded Press. I surrounded myself with uplifting people and lived with an attitude of gratitude.

Within four months I had a book launch, became a Bestselling Author and a Publisher (I published my friend Kim Somers Egelsee’s book Getting Your Life to a 10 Plus, too). Another blessing that week – my finances were recovered. Amazing opportunities came along; speaking engagements, radio and TV shows: the Beverly Hills Book Awards and the International Book Awards.

I had faith and chose to see my challenges as life experiences, the same kind everyone goes through. I also experienced my highest highs during this time. While I didn’t always feel up to doing speaking engagements or let myself be vulnerable in front of an audience, I sucked it up and put aside my pain (physical, emotional, financial) and did it anyway. You see, I had a responsibility to share my message of Sexy, Fit & Fab at Any Age! even if I didn’t always look “perfect”.

This year, I invited 24 Sexy, Fit & Fab women, age 20s through 70s, to contribute stories to my new book Sexy, Fit & Fab Sirens. These women live confident, healthy and empowered lives, they’ve overcome the odds and have gained amazing achievements.

BRILLIANT BRENE BROWN

gifts_of_impeorfection

Hey Style + Spirit Sistas!

Often, I am asked to refer books that I love or that have impacted me.  I cannot rave enough about the Brilliant Brene Brown and encourage you all to pick up her book, The Gifts of Imperfection.  She is amazing!  I am about halfway through and couldn’t wait to finish it before I shared it with all of you!  Books seem to choose me when I am meant to read them in order to fully receive the message.  Who relates?  This book has been sitting behind my desk among a stack of about six books in my “to read” pile.  My mom gave it to me two Christmas’s ago and I remember flipping through it and loving the title, but for some reason I didn’t feel compelled to read it then.  As a recovered perfectionist, every word of this easy-to-read book has resonated with me and if you need to LET GO of the woman you think you’re suppose to be…please read it and begin embracing who you really are!

A few weeks ago, in my Spiritual Mastermind Women’s Group, a few gals were raving about this Brene Brown who had recently been on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday.  I was intrigued and spent the next week researching her and watched not only her SSS episodes, but all her TED TALKS videos as well.  She speaks with simple clarity on topics like shame, vulnerability, connection, courage, worthiness and living a wholehearted life.  All the things that many women find difficult to face, voice and express.  HAVE I MENTIONED HOW AMAZING SHE IS??  Plus, she gets major brownie points for being a sassy fellow Houstonian!   The full episodes are still posted on the OWN website so I encourage you to check them out.  They won’t be up for much longer.  Go to, http://www.oprah.com/own/episodes.html

Also check out her video on vulnerability:

Have you read any of her books?  I would love to hear your thoughts and how her research has impacted YOU!

Happy Humpday!

YOU ARE BRAVE.

Love, Tiff
