Do you feel stuck? I did for a long time!

Do you sense that the path you’re on is taking you in the wrong direction? Whew, I was way off track!

Do you secretly desire a new career path, but the fear of the uncertainty paralyzes you? Fear was my middle name for years!

Do you numb yourself and the fear with over spending, food, alcohol or too much television? I did all of the above!

I’m honored to have been asked to share my life experience and a few deeper parts of my journey to creating SOS – on the hit iTunes radio show, RELAUNCH! with Joel Boggess and Dr. Pei Kang. Joel is a life coach and the author of the #1 Amazon bestselling book – Finding your Voice.  Pei is a business executive and a gifted endodontist (root canal specialist) and yoga instructor.

I know Joel and Pei would love it if you subscribed and shared their iTunes show with your friends who need this type of inspiration!

As much I love working on camera, radio sure was fun and can be done without makeup! Holla!  This is a special episode to me as I have only shared some of these experiences here on the blog with you…so I would really appreciate if you made a comment and let me know your thoughts on the subject. I know God is opening the door and giving me the courage to share more of my story publicly.

Please don’t go another day living with your dreams dormant inside you!

Release the fear & relaunch, sista. If you need my personalized, private mentoring to guide you in this area- please contact me for details and pricing. Serious inquiries only. If you are not ready to do the work it takes to create lasting results – a coach or mentor will not help you!

Celebrate Every Tiny Success {SUNDAY AFFIRMATIONS}

HAPPY SUNDAY SISTAS!

celebrate-small-success1

Today is the halfway mark of Dec. Can you believe it? We have 2 more weeks of 2013 and yesterday, I found myself heading down that slippery slope of negative thinking about a few goals I didn’t quite complete this year. When my mind begins heading in the gutter like this- I know it is a signal to check in with myself, get quiet, plug into my Spiritual practice and get refocused on God’s Plan for my life. It’s also productive to read back over your journal to see how far you’ve come.  Instead of dwelling on the marks I missed, I began celebrating the marks I hit and hit right in the bullseye! Woop! But, our mind plays tricks on us and we so easily dwell on our shortcomings. If you have been beating yourself up about not fulfilling certain 2013 goals- STOP TODAY!

Start focusing on your triumphs and it will reignite your confidence!

Perhaps you didn’t lose the last 10 pounds of your 30 pound weightloss goal, BUT you paid off that credit card finally. Woop Woop!  Celebrate your financial freedom and simply set the 10 pound weightloss goal. Evaluate WHY you didn’t lose those 10 pounds and make adjustments. Did you start slacking with your workout program? Maybe you stopped drinking enough water and started reaching for the sodas again? It is a new day and soon it will be a New Year! Reset the goals you missed and let go of the guilt or shame associated with it!

This week I will….

  1. Tune out the holiday distractions + get quiet.
  2. Replay the goals I hit in 2013.
  3. Reset -with enthusiasm- any goals I missed.
  4. Stop beating myself up + show myself some love.
  5. Refuse to allow my mind to slide into the gutter.
  6. Celebrate every success no matter how small.
  7. Give myself a clean slate.
  8. Pray for God’s Will + Purpose to be revealed in my life.
  9. Let go of the guilt + shame.
  10. Make adjustments that are realistic + doable.
  11. Hold my head up high + MAKE MYSELF PROUD!

What 3 affirmations really resonated with you?

Always love hearing your thoughts.

Please like, + share this post with your friends if you think they need the inspiration!

Have a Fabulous Final Few Weeks of 2013.

MONDAY MOTIVATION: Looking Beyond

Beautiful big blue eyes

HELLO GORGEOUS!

Happy Monday. I trust you all had a wonderful weekend and many of you will be off of work today to celebrate Veteran’s Day. God Bless all the heroes and sheroes who have so courageously served our country.

Over the past few weeks, the following topic has been on my heart and I wanted to share it here with you. If you are tuned into Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday’s or have your nose in the latest self-development books, you know the topic of Ego is everywhere. Allowing the ego to rule is an epidemic that, we as a society, try to protect ourselves with it. Is is really protection? No, it’s not. The Ego robs you of the beauty, love, grace, joy and connection we all long for. We can view the EGO as Edging God Out. When we edge God out, we are edging LOVE out. I wore so many masks for years and would throw a wall up in a New York minute if my Ego felt threatened. This was misery! Life is lackluster and in black & white, it’s cold and unfulfilling when you allow the Ego to run things.

When we shift from Ego to Love, our world changes. It becomes joy-filled, vibrant, exciting, colorful and whole.

Look beyond…open your eyes. This week see beyond a person’s mask, walls, hard heart and the superficial facade they guard themselves with. Allow your  HEART  to see their HEART.. instead of your Ego greeting their Ego. Beyond everyone’s Ego is a Child of God longing to BE SEEN for who they really are.

  • Do you protect yourself with a mask?
  • Are you afraid to let others SEE you, but you secretly long for them to?
  • Do you judge others for their superficial exterior or can you see their authenticity beyond the “act”?
  • Can you see someone’s heart even though it may be covered with scars, a lock & chain and layers of pain?

I challenge us all to really SEE the purity and greatness in others and in turn, others will be free to see the greatness in us. Lose the term “take it for face value” and look deeper. You will be blessed for it!

READY TO LOOK & FEEL FAB THIS FALL?

Hello Fabulous Friends!

When I created SOS, part of the concept was to help busy women keep their wardrobe’s current, fresh and fabulous. Most women do not have the luxury to kick back with their fave fashion mags in order to keep up with the latest styles. Instead, you can click on one of my videos and in about 5-10 minutes you have a few tips and ideas on what is hot and what’s not!

Last week, I flipped through several of the latest Fall magazines for you. I have some great news… ALL of the styles from last Fall are still hot! You know what I’m going to say right? SHOP YOUR CLOSET BEFORE HITTING THE STORES! So there’s no need to shoot an entirely new Fall Must Haves video. Simply watch last year’s!  But, there are a handful of cool accessories and essentials you need to know about so I will be getting back in the SOS studio with a brand-spankin-new video soon highlighting a few things I can’t live without right now. My hubby-and cameraman- is arriving THIS MORNING (happy dance) after an extended trip to Africa and I will be putting him to work..after my birthday celebration!

Yep, today is my day of birth (like how I slipped that in there- heehee) and I give thanks today for my amazing Mama for bringing me into the world. Our Moms should be celebrated on our birthdays. They are the ones who deserve the cake!  Another year of love, laughter and learning under my belt and I’m excited what the coming year has to bring. I thank ALL OF YOU for joining me on this journey! This community + mission to help women is my life’s work and I am grateful for each and every one of you. Ok, back to Fashion…

So, you’re updated on how to dress up your outside.. let’s discuss dressing up your inside and getting ready Spiritually for the new season. Many of you have been rushing around getting the kids ready for back-to-school and probably feel spread thin and a bit CRAY CRAY. Am I right? While my hubby was away, I created a Spiritual Retreat in the house and really pampered myself. We had a wirlwind schedule before he left and I had overextended myself (why do we girls do that?) so I’m grateful to have had some time to get grounded again.

DO YOU NEED A SPIRITUAL RETREAT?

With the kids back in school and the sports, music lessons, etc.. keeping you running here and there– I highly recommend taking some time to plug in, tune out and refuel so you feel grounded and strong for Fall and all the activities that come with it. Here are just a few things that helped me get back to feeling that both feet were firmly planted and my head was reattached. I know most of you may not have the luxury of an entire day or weekend of this, but if you can find that amount of time- DO IT! One of my girlfriends, who has toddlers, takes a “STAYCATION” every few months and books a hotel in her city for the weekend. Highly recommend it!

These are all simple things, but add them together and it can change everything:

Find a quiet spot and light a candle. Do not bring your iPad, laptop or phone into this space! Play tranquil zen music. (I created a channel like this on Pandora) Sit quietly and breathe deep. Scan your body and find any tension. Stretch that area or lightly massage it. My sore spot is always my neck. Begin giving gratitude. Gratitude for everything you can think of. I talk to God in this moment and thank Him for all the blessings in my life. You will begin to feel an elated sense of joy. You can write a gratitude list in your journal if that’s the method you like. There is no rhyme or reason to this time and it is yours to create. Whatever works for you! I am just giving you an idea of what sets the tone for me. MAKE IT YOURS! Set intentions and an action plan for the Fall. What do you want to change? Try? Revamp? I chose to eat very clean foods, no meat and gave up things like wine and comfort foods during this time. Your physical body and your spirit function beautifully together under these conditions. I think we forget that!

Add in things like a Spiritually enriching book and walking in nature or a long nap. Give your body and your spirit what it needs!  Do not neglect YOU! After the busyness of Summer and going right into a busy Fall..

YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF!

Love, Tiff

ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE DAY!

price-tag-priceless copy

A quick word of encouragement for the day….

Do you realize how VALUABLE + PRICELESS you are?  Truly deep down in the core of your soul… do you realize it?  The word “valuable” has been resonating with me all week. Women around the world from all walks of life struggle with this word.

The definition of valuable is “something that is of great worth”.

As I have mentioned on this blog more than once, I did not realize my worth until I truly grasped the concept that I was a child of God.  Many of you are Mothers, so think of how precious, perfect (even when they get on your last nerve), valuable, beautiful and truly special you think your children are?  That is how God thinks of each of you.  YES, YOU SISTA!   God is the Master Creator and does not make mistakes.  You are Divinely Designed…A Masterpiece. Start viewing yourself as such!  Today, strip away the titles you wear and stand in boldly in the beauty that is YOU and you alone.  Not as mom, wife, sister, daughter, employee, grandma, aunt, etc… as (  your name  ).   Love her today, cherish her and begin to realize how valuable she is… JUST AS SHE IS.

For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14. NIV)

Go do something special for yourself today to celebrate

YOUR AWESOMENESS!

Be grateful for who you are and stop comparing yourself to others.  You are a masterpiece and they are a masterpiece.  We don’t go around comparing Michelango’s works to DaVinci’s.  It just doesn’t make sense, right?

Love, Tiff

MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY {Sunday Affirmations}

FIFERS_april2013

Happy Sunday Girlfriend!

I trust you are all having a beautiful weekend.  I’m playing catch up after spending most of the week in Dallas.  It was a wirlwind trip filled with playtime with the most precious toddlers, laughing over wine with dear girlfriends of 20+ years and of course, over-indulging in my fave food– TexMex!  Something that has been resonating with me since my return to LA is how inspired I am by the women in my life.  We seem to look for inspiration everywhere these days (I even base my blog + webseries on it) in the latest motivational book endorsed by Oprah, in movies, art, church or even on Pinterest.  Sometimes all we need to do is look at the lives of our nearest and dearest.  Inspiration is right under our nose and can so easily be overlooked and underappreciated.  There were several beautiful life lessons I learned on this trip, but the thing that made the most impact was how powerful it is when a woman MAKES UP HER MIND to do something.  Hold on to your hats boys… Hurricane Sally is coming through town!   When mama makes up her mind… shizzle gets done!

Christine_Tiff_Heidi2

I had so many thought-provoking conversations on my trip with women from all walks of life, but there are a few scenarios that inspired me the most.  Remember a few weeks ago, I posted a blog about my friend Christine who recently went through 15-16 rounds of chemo.  Well, just two weeks ago Christine underwent a mastectomy.  On top of that, I was not aware that prior to her finding out about the cancer, she had torn a ligament in her wrist from yoga.  She had what was suppose to be a simple surgery that turned into a nightmare leaving her with a permanent metal rod from her hand halfway up her forearm.  She not only lost a breast in the past year she has lost the use of her hand and may never do yoga again.  When you are in Christine’s presence you sense nothing but gratitude, bravery and strength.  It overwhelmed me!  She doesn’t feel sorry for herself and doesn’t play the ‘woe is me’ sad song.  She put a smile on her face and made up her mind in the beginning of this journey that she would stay positive and get through it…SHE DID JUST THAT!  She even got dressed up complete with a fab wig and attended Heidi’s birthday party only a few weeks after surgery!  CAN WE SAY ROCKSTAR!?!

Another inspiring woman– a family friend, who has fluctuated with her weight for years, recently lost over 60 pounds and I barely recognized her.  Hello Supermodel!!  She not only looked amazing physically, but she was glowing and had a beautiful sparkle in her eye.  We had an intimate chat and she explained how she was looking forward to starting a family and wanted to be as healthy as possible during her pregnancy, plus be a healthy and strong mom for her kids as they grew. WOW!  SO INSPIRING!  She made up her mind and lost the weight.  Once and for all.  I am so sick of hearing myself complain about “that 5-10 lbs”.  Who’s with me?  If she can make up her mind to lose 60 then surely I can make up mind and get rid of that stubborn 5.  I have stepped it up with my workouts recently, but I am about to become hardcore BFF’s with the treadmill and achieve my goal already!

Belmont_dallas_skyline

One more inspiring story I want to share with you was hearing that one of my dearest friends is about to close on a home.  She has fulfilled most of her dreams throughout our friendship and then some, but one of her most important was to own a home.  After searching and searching she finally found the one!  Sometimes our dreams seem so far off in the distance or like they will never come to pass.  If you set your mind, never give up, keep believing, keep praying and keep working towards it– YOU WILL ACHIEVE!   Imagine yourself sitting in that dream kitchen.  Never lose sight. Then one day you will wake up and actually be sipping that first cup of coffee in your new home.

Jodi_Tiff_Heidi

Are you wishy washy?  Do you battle with wavering, hemming + hawing and doubting yourself?  I admit I can think a thing to death because I can’t seem to make up my mind sometimes.  We play that mind game because we FEAR the outcome of making the wrong choice.  I read something recently to the effect of “we are free to choose, but we are not free of the consequences of our choice”…so like most issues, the root of indecision is that dreaded four lettered F word– FEAR.  Our minds are so powerful when we focus on the outcome we desire and make the decision that NOTHING will stop us from achieving it.

THIS WEEK I WILL…..

  1. Stop the mind games.
  2. Quit the hemming and hawing.
  3. Connect with inspiring girlfriends + ignore the whiners!
  4. Release the fear.
  5. Choose love, joy and peace.
  6. Fake it till I make it if I have to.
  7. Focus on my dreams.
  8. Keep growing + stepping into my greatness.
  9. SMILE MORE.
  10. Trust in God’s destiny for me.
  11. Believe that I will achieve!

EASTER- New Beginnings, New Life!

Jacaranda_trees_in_Montagu_Ave,_Harare,_Zimbabwe_in_1975

Easter is a miraculous time of new beginnings and new life.  So, I would like to start off wishing all of you who celebrate it…. A Very Happy and Blessed Easter!  I love this time of year for so many reasons, but especially on a Spiritual level.  Everywhere you look there are signs of new life from the greener grass to the budding flowers and trees.  The birds are singing again and the squirrels are playing.  How amazing is God’s Creation!?  On my powerwalk a few days ago, I was thrilled to see the blooming Jacaranda trees (one of my favorite trees) lining several streets in Beverly Hills.  The bold purple color always takes my breath away and  I am filled with excitement that SPRING HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED!

Winter is a time when everything appears to die and lies dormant or is intentionally pruned back in order to grow bigger and better come Spring.  We can feel like that at times as well.  Have you felt pruned back at bit and are now ready to BLOOM?!?  Part of that pruning back is the “letting go” I spoke about a few weeks ago.  In order to bloom and become who you are truly meant to be and step into a new life, you have to snip some dead things off.   Grab those Spiritual gardening shears sista.  Cheers to a fresh start and new beginning!

A MUST SEE!

Are you watching The Bible Series on The History Channel?  I highly recommend it.  It’s a beautiful Mini-Series produced by Roma Downey (Touched By An Angel) and her husband, Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice).   It’s been the #1 rated show every week since it debuted.  Last week’s episode on Palm Sunday especially impacted me as we watched Jesus begin His journey to the cross.  The final episode is this Easter Sunday with the Crucifixion.  If you do not have cable, you can view it online at the same time as it would appear on TV in  your area.  They entire series will also be available on DVD. Go to http://www.history.com.

Here’s a sneak peek of the finale:

There will be no Sunday Affirmations this week instead I encourage you to celebrate the special day, celebrate your life, celebrate your family + friends and celebrate a fresh start + the opportunity to bloom.

SOME SIMPLE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE.. it never ever fails. Period.

love-never-fails

Hello LOVElies,

Yes, we all know it is the month for love and I’m fully aware that we have Valentine’s messages coming at us from all directions.  Does it make you want to puke already?  Well, be relieved– I am not going to talk about chocolates, lingerie or roses.  Usually my posts are colorful and whimsical.  Sorry, there’s no red or pink in today’s post.  I’m giving it to you straight and would rather share the simple but PROFOUND truth about love.  By now, if you have been following my blog for a while you know I have a strong faith in God and because of all the obstacles I’ve faced in life, I have had to work HARD on my “love walk”.  I admit I had become cynical toward love and it’s taken a while for my heart to soften.  Now it’s like puddy.

I have had a long journey to trusting and loving others.  This is where I have to give mad props to my hubby for being an example of love and humility every single day.  We just celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary on the 11th and I’m not sure if I would fully understand the purity of love if it wasn’t for him.   That man has put up with my walls, my anger and my issues.   He just kept loving me through it all.  See, I allowed the wrong men in my life for years and with all the baggage I carried including ‘daddy issues’– I don’t think I truly understood real love until I found God.  Then, God brought my hubby and I was officially on the Love Train.. woo hoo!  So– if you have a problem with the Bible, go ahead and log off this blog post now.  BUT, I would hope you would open your heart because I believe the Bible to be the very best ‘self-help’ book on the planet.  1 Corinthians 13 is known as the “Love Chapter” and it’s the greatest reminder of how we should all live our lives…….and not just on Valentine’s Day.

Do you love others easily?

What about the very difficult, high maintenance people?

Do you allow your ego to take over and judge others instead of showing love?

When we focus on coming from a place of love- AT ALL TIMES- instead of allowing our ego to take over, we remain in peace and peace is a place of power!  Many issues, squabbles and stupid altercations come from allowing our ego to rule over us.  I have to read 1 Corinthians 13 on weekly basis to keep myself in-check.

Love_ cor13

LOVE NEVER FAILS!

Try it and you’ll see.  The next time  your ego takes over… STOP.  Picture yourself in the other persons shoes and approach the sitch from a place of love… NOT EGO!

With all my love,

Tiff

POSITIVE ENERGY + how to not absord the negative!

Hey My Fabulous Fashionista Friends!

Who is feeling that magical transition to Pre-Fall? As much as I completely Love (I mean seriously L O V E) summer, I equally love that change in the air as the seasons begin to change.  For me, it is always a fun time of year because my birthday is always that final summer celebration and let me tell you– I had an AWESOME birthday and was royally spoiled by family and friends complete with a quick jaunt to Vegas.  This leads me to this week’s topic= ENERGY + INTUITION.  Now, I truly love getting out of town for a sec no matter where it is, but Vegas is a whole other cup of tea.  It’s not my fave place on the planet, but I can seem to find fun wherever! There are people, people and more people in Sin City and I often leave feeling an “energy drain” from the crowds. Do you relate to what I’m talking about?  It’s as if someone took a vacuum hose to my gut and sucked out all my positive energy. So I’ve spent the past few days refueling.  If you are like me and “feel” other people’s energy and vibes to the point that it drains you- here’s a few tips on transforming the “energy drain” back into a positive feeling and get your vibrancy back!  If you are overly “empathetic”, you probably deal with this issue because you are like a SPONGE and absorb people’s energy:

  1. PROTECT YOURSELF.  Before heading into the masses, stop- say a prayer and ask to be shielded with white light from the top of your head down to your tippy toes.  Ok, this may sound corny, but God will protect you!
  2. BE AWARE. Take notice of how you feel in a certain environment and around certain people.  Do you crave your “comfort foods” after being exposed to negative people or do you feel like drinking more? This is important to be aware of because we are physically trying to correct an emotional issue. (I have a touch of social anxiety and “feel” peoples energy very quickly so I tend to grab for that extra glass of wine to deal. I don’t recommend it- just being honest)
  3. RINSE IT OFF. Believe it or not, a hot bath or shower can “cleanse” you of negative energy.  Washing away negative energy will release you from “carrying” that energy and keep you sane.  Let all the negative energy go right down the drain!

PLEASE comment and let me know if you deal with this and if you have found a great remedy that works for you!

Happy Humpday Hotstuff!  Today’s post has a dash of everything to jazz up your heart-space, your mind and your wardrobe!  Ready? Let’s get started….

For the past few weeks I’ve felt a beautiful shift and the urgency to go even deeper in my Spiritual life. I feel like a Spiritual Sponge and want to soak up new teachings, ideas, tools and practices in order to keep growing and understanding my true purpose and what God has planned for me.  I believe we are a “work-in-progress” until we take our final breath and there’s still so many old mindsets from the past that I wish to overcome and concepts that no longer serve me and my highest good.  Woohoo for outgrowing old mindsets!  It’s a liberating time as well as a challenging one and many times, we get bogged down in the complexity of it all.  I often judge myself and over -analyze what I’m thinking.  But, the truth is…it is all quite simple.  We need to just open our hearts, be like a little innocent child and then just LISTEN.  Have you felt what I’m describing?   All of these concepts are brilliantly taught by one of my fave Spiritual teachers, Marianne Williamson.  She has a gift for articulating profound Spiritual principles into easy-to-comprehend teachings to apply to your life.  I recently watched older episodes of her appearances on the  “The Best of The Oprah Show”  on OWN and I highly recommend that you do yourself a favor and watch it!  Life-changing.  I have read many of Marianne’s books and they are the type you need to read every few years.  I wanted to share this beautiful Morning Prayer from her book, ILLUMINATA.  If you struggle with getting your day started right and then continuing to come from a place of Love VS. Fear throughout the day, I encourage you to print this out and read it every morning:

Dear God,
I give this day to You.
May my mind stay centered on the things of spirit.
May I not be tempted to stray from love.
As I begin this day, I open to receive You.
Please enter where You already abide.
May my mind and heart be pure and true, and may I not deviate from the things of goodness.
May I see the love and innocence in all mankind, behind the masks we all wear and the illusions of this worldly plane.
I surrender to You my doings this day.
I ask only that they serve You and the healing of the world.
May I bring Your love and goodness with me, to give unto others wherever I go.
Make me the person You would have me be.
Direct my footsteps, and show me what You would have me do.
Make the world a safer, more beautiful place.
Bless all Your creatures.
Heal us all, and use me, dear Lord, that I might know the joy of being used by You.
Amen.

Here’s a candid video sharing my thoughts on not beating yourself up if you have negative thoughts– because they can actually be a GREAT MOTIVATOR!

Quick style tip to keep in mind when you start shopping for new fall items: Rock patent leather preferably in the Burgundy, Wine + Red family!  Either a great jacket, boots or handbag will jazz up your wardrobe for Fall 2012!

Please invite your girlfriends to join the Style Sisterhood!  We are all growing and getting more fabulous together.

Walk Tall.  Be Unapologetic for Your Fabulous-ness.

Love Yourself.
