LOVE Your Mother On Mother’s Day! By My Sister Natalie Bolton

She.
She is.
She is beautiful.
She is life.

This is a “skincare” blog, yes. But my work would be insignificant if I didn’t address the things that matter to me most. And those things are Spirit, Health, Family, Character, and Love. By cultivating and nurturing these things in others, external vibrant beauty for my clients is the easy part.
So this “beauty” blog today is dedicated to women.

Mothers.
Goddess Warriors.
Protectors.
Visionaries.
Lovers.
And the Doers.

Mother’s Day is approaching this weekend and we all have different feelings and different experiences and reactions when we think of this day.
For some it causes pain. For others it brings forth gratitude. And for many it brings about anger and a sense of feeling motherless.

But we are in this together. We are all connected.

Let us celebrate the women who have poured into us strength of character, wisdom, and love. Personally, if it weren’t for my mother I don’t know how actually broken I would be.
If you are a woman, you are a mother. You may not have children walking around, playing, or asking you for advice, but you are a creator. We are all creators. Cherish and keep on incubating your dreams, visions, and beauty only you can give us. We need you.

If you can no longer call your mom to just say, “Hey” take a bit of comfort in knowing that woven into your beauty are fibers of her greatness. She is in you and she is with you.
To all the prayin’ mommas out there, “Thank You!” Today we celebrate your greatness. We delight in your power and strength. And all the beauty you pour into the world we want you to know that it flows from your heart and glistens through your skin. You are exquisite and you are Divine.”

The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.

“Cheers, pretty mommas!”

With all my gratitude,

CELEBRATING ALL TYPES OF MAMAS TODAY!

Glam_mom

Along with all you beautiful mother’s, I want to wish ALL of you women who- like me- may not have bore your own children, but you mentor, mold, nurture, build up & care for children who may not have a mom or role model.

Our lives may look different than other women’s, but just know that God’s Plan & Purpose for you is equally important. Never ever feel ‘less than’ for not having your own biological children. If today is a tough day for you because you feel your dream of motherhood wasn’t fulfilled, I encourage you to focus on a new dream and see the calling God has placed on your life complete with the time, attention and opportunity to give your love to youth who need you.

As I approached my mid-30’s, the clock was ticking and felt the panic. I had several friends who were going through the fertility journey and IVF, but did I really want a baby so desperately to go through all that? Throughout my 20’s, I never felt that deep urge to have a baby because I was such a broken girl. I always said, “I’m not going to be a screwed up mom raising screwed up kids”. Then I married an amazing man who would be an amazing daddy. If he really wanted to be a father, I wanted to give him that. For about 6 months, I tried the Chinese herbs, acupuncture and stopped drinking wine. I began visualizing wanting a baby girl and created a vision board all about family. But…

Did we really want this or were we more concerned with what our family and peers thought?

Aaron and I prayed about it long and hard then felt it was not God’s Plan for us to have our own children. Soon after we surrendered and felt at peace with this Plan, the door opened for me to mentor some very deserving and hurting teenage girls. We also started our work in the orphanage in Africa. I love how God works! It’s truly one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and also the hardest. It gives me even greater respect for mom’s!

Be open.

Share your heart.

Seek out people (it doesn’t just have to be kids) who need what you have to give.

Pray about it.

Let God use you.

WE ARE ALL MAMAS.

Love, Tiff

4 Ways To Keep Up Your Look As A New Mom by Guest Blogger Allison Taylor-Moseley

Style is a frame of mind. It’s expressing who you are at a particular time in your life. Ask yourself, “Where am I in my life and does my personal style fit my current lifestyle?” I’m an Austin based jewelry designer, wardrobe stylist, and new mom to a 4 month old baby girl. I basically live in jeans, tees, and my favorite wedges these days. My “getting ready” routine has really changed! So, I’ve rounded up the 4 ways I keep up my look as a new mom…

  1. Have at least 1 fabulous pair of jeans that fit you like a rock star (and make you feel like one). Even if you wear them everyday, you know you’ll look good! They’re durable, easily cleaned, and you don’t have to shave your legs as often! Plus, you can dress them up or down. Wear them casually with tees, tanks, and flats, or dress them up with blouses, blazers, and heels. I have 3 pairs in high rotation: a pair of cropped colored denim, straight leg dark denim, and a flared light blue. Don’t buy duplicates; you gotta mix it up!
  2. Build a wardrobe with a foundation of essentials and stick to a color scheme. This allows you to easily mix & match your pieces to make a variety of outfits. Getting dressed will be easier and you’ll avoid the dreaded, “I have nothing to wear” syndrome when you have the basics. Don’t be tempted by too many trendy items, which are hard to style. A great color scheme is blues, greens, and reds (pick shades that work for your skin tone).
  3. Buy stylish statement shoes, even if they are flats, sneakers, or low heels. Shoes are a quick & easy way to add a stylish touch to the most basic outfit. It could be a fire engine red patent leather flats, animal print wedges, a bold pair of oxfords, brightly colored sneakers, or a gorgeous pair of low-heeled pumps. Let your shoes make a statement!
  4. #1 MOST IMPORTANT TIP: Don’t give up on yourself; do your hair & make-up! I find that when hair and make-up are done, everything just looks more “put together”. Even when I haven’t showered or I’m feeling down on my looks, if my hair and make-up are done, I’ll feel great!   So, here are my tips:
    1. For hair, learn to create a quick up-do that works for you. For example, learn to braid it, curl it, pin it back, or tie it in a bun in 10 minutes or less. Find a creative way to use a scarf or hat on bad hair days. For me, I curl my hair 2 or 3 times a week. Instead of washing, drying, and curling it every day, I’ll use a shower cap and just refresh the curls with a little spray wax the next day.
    2. For make up, get yourself a 5-minute make-up routine. Mine is: Foundation, concealer under eyes, blush, 1 eye shadow, powder, mascara, gloss.
    3. Bathe at night. I save a lot of time by bathing at night. In the morning, all I have to do is hair & make up! I also find it very relaxing and nurturing to my soul to bathe at night. It’s like I’m washing away everything that happened that day and getting into bed with a fresh start.

MOMS! Not All Superheroes Wear Capes!

Mothers-Day_super hero

Today is that special day to appreciate and honor our Mom’s for everything she does for us. If I tried to list off every way my Mom selflessly pours into my life- it would take up the entire WordPress blog capability for data. But, the one thing I am most thankful for today is for my Mom imparting belief, integrity and Faith into me through scripture & prayer. Of course, as a child- we do not fully understand the power that a Praying Mama has over our life. As an adult, I look back and see many examples of how her prayer kept me safe and protected. In the midst of my poor choices and my back turned away from God, I now know that He kept His Hand of Protection over me because of her.

My Mom has been the Spiritual Superhero of our family! She is always ready to leap tall problems with a single prayer or rejoice in our victories like the world’s greatest cheerleader. She listens intently to my sister and I, without judgement, when we just need to vent. Her phone is always on and she is never too busy when her family is in need. I cannot think of a time when she wasn’t there for us and my sis and I can be a handful- sort of like the oversized Sonic cups in the photo below…  Just sayin’.

I’m so grateful for the example she set. She always woke up at least an hour before us to arm herself for the day with Bible reading and coffee. So, she was able to help us start our day in a place of peace as well. There was never that chaotic, loud morning rush in our house and I so appreciate her instilling that in my sister and I. We both have a diligent morning prayer/meditation/reading/journaling practice which I now teach to women around the world. If you have transformed the way you start your day because of my guidance- you can thank my Mama!

It’s not ironic that her name is Rochelle which means “little rock” in French, but she’s is lovingly referred to as ROCKI. She’s a true Fighter and Superhero. Despite her difficult childhood, she always did her best to ensure we had a different experience. We always had what we needed and felt cherished & loved. She also taught us girls that we could be or do anything we dreamed of! I really don’t know how she worked a full-time job, took care of a household (without a housekeeper) and always had the time to be present with us….

SUPERHERO.

Now that I’m married, I’m blessed with 2 Spiritual Superhero Mom’s. My Mother-In-Law is also the rock of her family and although she is on the other side of the world in Australia- we feel the effects of her prayers in our life. Her name is RUTH, which is also the name of one of my favorite women in the Bible. Ruth’s name means “friend of God”… so appropriate. Our generation, our family- is truly blessed because of our 2 praying Matriarch’s.

Today- as we think of all the titles our Mom’s wore from kisser of booboo’s to master chef to even our first hairstylist- let’s appreciate the Superhero she really is and to all of you SOS Sistas who are Mom’s- we celebrate YOU today.

Rocki & Ruth- we love you!
