WHAT’S UNDER YOUR CLOTHES?

You know I LOVE talking about clothes, shoes, accessories and all that jazz, but what we have on UNDERNEATH our fabulous outfit is just as important.   The undergarment business is huge with more selection than ever!

  • In order for your tops to fit their best, you must wear the appropriate bra! 
  • For that beautiful dress to flow just right on your hips and accent the silhouette, you should wear Spanx or some sort of Shapewear.  
  • For low-slung jeans,  you should wear panties that lay flat on your skin and have a lower rise in the crotch. 
  • For the sundress that you can’t wear a bra with, you have a few options for self-adhesive covers.

Our bodies, our boobies and our booties come in all shapes and sizes so find what works best for you!   I’m giving you a rundown of my fav’s and what works for me.   As I always say, “take it all with a grain of salt” because what works for one does not work for all.  If you have found a fabulous bra or lingerie piece, PLEASE COMMENT + SHARE WITH US!

TDL ROCKS! Part 4 of The 5 Minute Face: Eyes & Lips. WE’RE DONE!

A big thank you to Tara Dowburd-Luftman for all of her ez-to-use tips on THE 5 MINUTE FACE!  We’ve been getting great feedback and I have personally been looooving the translucent powder and not looking like a grease pit by mid-day!

Here’s the FINAL few steps in PART 4 starting with curling the eyelashes, applying mascara, then lipliner & lipgloss.  Eeek, I had been using the same Shu Uemura eyelash curler for probably 3 YEARS!   I just replaced it and wow, what a big difference.    Go to the SHU UEMURA SITE to purchase one.  They’re only $19.

Do you live a life WELL LAUGHED?

You can have all the money in the world, but without your HEALTH…you can’t enjoy it!   Let’s join together in bringing awareness to health & wellness initiatives in our communities!   My own personal mission is to give teenage girls the tools they need to live happy, healthy, empowered lives.  These girls are the Mothers of our future and I feel I have a responsibility to educate them on healthy eating choices, the importance of exercise and how to nurture their Spirits.

I am honored to be one of the five bloggers chosen to be part of THE LAUGHING COW: Live A Life Well Laughed Project.   We had a blast on the day of taping and I was surprised with a chance to try out the curriculum I’m developing for an EMPOWERMENT DAY CAMP!    Teens are the toughest crowd and I have to admit I was a tad nervous, but totally in my element and the girls were very receptive!    I am so grateful to Bel Brands for giving me this opportunity!

I HAD IT ALL WRONG! Part 3 of Tara’s 5 Minute Face: Powder & Bronzer

Thank God for Tara Dowburd-Luftman of Makeup Therapy!  In Part 3 of her 5 Minute Face, TDL shows us how to apply the RIGHT TYPE OF POWDER & BRONZER.   I found out I’ve been doing it all wrong for about 15 years now!   

Tara recommends translucent powder without color to set and get rid of shine.  I’ve been using a “dual finish” powder and always looked like a grease-pit by the middle of the day.  PLUS, she recommends using a  bronzer without shimmer in it.   Yep, I had that wrong too!

Human Trafficking…we need to help these girls!!!

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have been hearing about HUMAN TRAFFICKING!   We cannot get up everyday knowing this is happening and not help to end it!  Sometimes these issues seem so big and overwhelming that we think how could I possibly make a difference…well, together WE CAN!

The average age of entry into the sex slave industry is 12-14…

What were you doing when you were 13?   Were you a cheerleader?  Hanging out with friends at the mall or skating rink.  Can you fathom being drugged and forced to “service” 30-40 men a day when you were only 13?

Earlier this year, Joyce Meyer did a story on this subject and how her ministry was joining with the Dream Center LA to renovate an old building in downtown LA to house and rehabilitate young women who are rescued from the sex slave industry.  We had to find out more and took a tour of the facility last week.   The stories were heartwrenching and we were in tears through the entire tour. WOW, THE PEOPLE AT THE DREAM CENTER ARE LIKE ANGELS ON EARTH!

We have to share one story in particular with you.  This proved to us that this is not just an overseas issue…IT IS HAPPENING IN OUR OWN BACKYARD!   A 13 year old girl was trained to be a “recruiter” and enrolled in a normal LA school.  She became friends with a girl who I assume was a good “candidate”. The recruiter girl invited the girl for a sleep over and everything seemed normal.  They were watching TV and just hanging out.  The recruiter girl went to the kitchen to get them something to drink and slipped a drug into the other girls drink.  She passed out and woke up to a man raping her.  They gave her more drugs!  When she eventually came to, she was filthy, hungry and exhausted.  She had no idea how long she had been there or how many men had raped her.  She was sold to a man in Texas– Tiff’s HOME STATE- for $200,000 and was kept drugged up in a basement and forced to have sex with up to 40 men a day!  THIS INFURIATES US!  Who are these men?  The buyers and the sellers. The devil’s spawn!  They are the men in front of us in the grocery line, sitting at the table next to us in a restaurant or YOUR NEIGHBOR!  They must be stopped!

This story has a happy ending, but unfortunately most of them do not!  The statistics are beyond horrible.  Only 1%, yes, 1% of these girls are ever found and rescued.  But, this girl in Texas was!  By the Grace of God, her brother- a truck driver- was on a trip from Cali to Tx and stopped at a convenience store.  He looked down into the backseat of a car and saw a high, drugged out girl…YES, IT WAS HIS SISTER!  He got away with her, but the perpetrator was never found.

We can help these girls!  It is very expensive to rehabilitate them because of all the medical care they need and the length of the rehabilitation process. First they are weened off the drugs and many need false teeth because their teeth have rotted out from the drug use.  They are taken care of physically then the long road of emotional recovery begins.  The average length of rehabilitation is 7 years.  So, by the time they are around 20, they are ready to go back into society and start their lives.  This brings me to tears just writing this. WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING!

UnZipped Charity Event in Fayetteville a total success!

I had a blast at the UnZipped Charity Event in Fayetteville, AR!   There was a fabulous turnout to honor and raise awareness for the 7 Hills Homeless Center for Veterans.  The cool boutique MACA, provided the clothing for the event and set up a mobile boutique.  A percentage of the sales that evening went to 7 Hills.  The band North Shore Pharmacy out of Chicago performed and rocked the house!  I would like to thank Heather Fallen, owner of Stage 28 Talent & Eyes On NWA for inviting me!  Her crew was a blast to work with and Fayetteville now holds a special place in my heart!

SOS at UnZipped Charity Event Nov 6th

UnZipped will become an annual fashion event to raise awareness and support for Northwest Arkansas charities. This year’s show will be held November 6th, 2010 and will benefit US Armed Forces veterans through the Seven Hills Homeless Center. Featuring the latest fashions from MACA Clothe, live music entertainment & light-show from NSP out of Chicago, food, beverages, afterparty and much more, UNZIPPED promises to be a night like no other!
