Hey Sistas!
This is the first post bringing you Spring Style Tips for 2014. WooHoo! Yes, we’re already into March and it’s a bit past due, but I know it’s a challenge to get in the groove when it was just 19 degrees last week. The sun has started peeking out so I’m ready to brighten & lighten up my closet. How ’bout you?
Spring is in the air! This means an end to the constant layering and bundling-up that is practically synonymous with cold weather, and the beginning of happier times that have a pastel aura around them. If you are yearning for the cherry blossoms and the warm sun, the best way to get in the mood for new beginnings is to update your wardrobe; and that’s when we come in handy. Here are the five most droo-lworthy items for your closet; items that will go perfectly with those graduation parties that you’ll undoubtedly attend, will reflect all those exciting fashion trends and won’t totally blow your budget to pieces.

Daytime essential: a sporty A-line dress
A high-neck dress with a frilly skirt, showing just the right amount of skin is an absolute must. You can pair it with flats, strappy sandals; or if the occasion is slightly more formal, with a great pair of heels and a classic blazer. If you are feeling bold, you can choose a fiery red color that is an instant mood booster; but be careful with the hue; bluer reds go well with fair skin, while an orangey red is perfect for a darker complexion. Take a cue from Alexander McQueen and invest in this little red dress that will definitely be a show-stopper. Buy the dress at the Alexander McQueen store on 45 Old Bond street, London and it definitely become your favorite purchase ever.

Heels for every occasion
Spring’s palette is less sharp than the fall and winter one, and while a black pump is a classic, it doesn’t quite work with spring’s pale and soft colors; and skin-color heels are just plain boring. Try giving your legs a style boost and opt for white pumps; or a pair of powder pink pointy kitten heels, like these Gianvito Rossi suede pumps. Their sleek and understated design will lengthen your legs and they will go perfectly with a dress or a pair of boyfriend jeans, for a more casual look

Off duty look
We all know that spring is the time for long walks and soaking in the gentle sunshine, and what better to wear for these types of activities than cropped boyfriend jeans? Relaxed and seemingly effortless, they can be paired with a pair of boots, sneakers or even heels; and regardless of the chosen footwear, the final look will be effortlessly cool and appropriate for any occasion. Give these Current/Elliot jeans a try and you will not want to go back to your skinny jeans. I live in my boyfriend jeans these days!
For the chilly days
As an alternative to the classic trench coat, try an oversized rounded shoulder coat that will make you wish for more chilly days. This Mother of Pearl Emerald Carrera coat, inspired by 1950’s designs, with its boxy cut and wide notch lapels will not only keep you safe from the occasional draft, but will also be a statement piece of its own. For the bold ones, pair it with clashing print, or with a skinny jean for a more subdued look.

Button-down 2.0
Every girl must have at least one button down in her wardrobe, but plain white just doesn’t do it anymore. In this case, opt for a striped shirt in basic colors, one of this spring’s most wearable trends. Try this Ann Demeulemeester striped cotton shirt and pair it with skinny leather pants and strappy heels for a night out, or with boyfriend jeans and flats for a more relaxed outfit.
