POWER DRESS FOR PRESS

What a whirlwind it’s been the past few weeks! The awesome kind of whirlwind with plenty of ‘pinch me’ moments. I had a plush room at the Four Seasons and dinner at Mastro’s- my favorite LA steak place while sitting across from other fellow Bravo family members like Dorinda, Ramona & Jules from RHONY and Shep & Cameron from Southern Charm. When you’re told that you and your cast mates are heading to LA for a big press tour, the panic starts with what to wear! Thanks to the brilliance of superstar stylist Jeanette Chivvis– the panic turned to peace & power.

Jeanette has this intuitive aspect to her styling. She just knows what is going to look most fabulous on you. I squealed when she showed me this canary yellow dress by Pink Lucy! It fit me perfect and I just knew it was THE dress for our Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight interviews.  As part of SOS, you know I’m a firm believer in the power of color. I felt happy, radiant and strong in this yellow. Day 1- a total style success!

Day 2- We had a full day of press junkets and red carpet interviews at the NBC Universal Summer Press Day. About 200 media outlets from all over the world are there to get the latest scoop on NBC Universal’s new stars and programming. My bestie, LeeAnne Locken and I were paired together for all the interviews so we made sure to coordinate our ‘power’ outfits. Jeanette had this stunning red custom made for me from London and she pulled this amazing white jumpsuit from Escada. To finish my look, she added jewelry from local Dallas designer, Harper Hallam. Nailed it! Oh and talk about a pinch me moment- looking over at the press booth next to you to see Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandell. I know what you’re thinking and yes, Heidi Klum is even more statuesque, stunning and stylish in person!

Back in Dallas, we started our local press tour with the lovely Meredith Land for NBC5 at the hotspot, Bistro 31.  Jeanette pulled this off-the-chain Elizabeth & James dress from Rent The Runway. Ok…seriously, I want to have this dress made in every color! It fit me like a glove and was super comfy. All about class, power and great fit.

Then, we were off to Culturemap Dallas for a fun interview with the fab Dawn Neufeld. Can we talk about my ridiculously fabulous new nude Louboutin’s?  Your dress needs to feel powerful, but your shoes should as well. I treated myself to a new pair specifically for this press tour. A great nude open toe heel is a life saver! If you do not own a pair put that at the top of your shopping list for Spring. I also love Stephanie’s patent nude Loubou’s. Really the perfect shoe. Period.

Our final stop was back at Bistro 31 for a very interesting interview with the Dallas Observer. I decided to change up my look and absolutely love a great jumpsuit! Love this kelly green, twist neck jumpsuit by BCBG is going to be my go-to for 2016. The Loubou’s worked again!  Are you getting it now..the importance of color when you’re going to a special event? Cary, Stephanie and I just ‘pop’ in this photo. Whether it’s a job interview, a wedding, important event or hot date- YOUR power color is always best! A great LBD always looks chic, but I always go for color first.

The cherry on top of my big day was running into my BFF, Heidi. I love that our outfits matched! She was there for a quick happy hour with her hubby. Her colorful scarf style maxi sundress was so fun, sexy and fresh. Great tip: Throw a light sweater over your shoulders for the unpredictable Spring weather.

Our final Dallas press day began at the Dallas Morning News with the fun & sassy Dawn Burkes. We were told we could go more casual for this interview. I tried something I always want to do, but always forget. I added a contrasting shoe with my fabulous yellow blouse. It was so fun and I highly recommend it! Cary had an important surgery right after this interview and I love that she’s rockin’ her scrubs. It is REAL life!

LeeAnne finished the day at CW-33. I chose this nude blush flowy dress by BCBG. Another great tip for doing on camera interviews or if you are on stage for a speaking engagement- more than likely you will be sitting in a tall directors chair or bar stool. Make sure to never wear a super short dress. Not flattering on the legs!

SPRING 2016 STYLE GOALS

Pink_BCBG

HELLO GORGEOUS!

Happy March!  Are you as excited for Spring as I am? The weather has been amazing in Dallas and I’m ready to put away the drab coats and pull out the bright colors. A few days ago, I had the fun opportunity to attend Erika Jayne’s performance. (Thank you again 103.7 KVIL for the VIP treatment) She is one of the newest cast members of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills and WHOA- talk about a powerhouse!  As I was fishing through my closet to find just the right outfit that would be worthy of wearing to a performance by “the pretty mess” herself- I came across a bubblegum pink BCBG dress with the tags still on. Why do I keep bypassing this dress? Is it too bright? Was it out of my color comfort zone? I love pink, but I guess I just haven’t worn it much.

I always encourage you sistas to try new things. It was time to listen to my own advice. Trust me, I tried on several outfits and even showed my hubby trying to get him to convince me to wear anything BUT that hot pink dress. He loved the pink. As I stepped out of my comfort zone, this got me thinking of you and how we should all set some style goals for Spring!

This is the perfect time to take a Saturday and clear the clutter. Go through your closet and make an assessment of the items that need to stay, to be donated and items you need to add. Check out my oldie, but goodie video on closet organization. Often, we buy the same things over and over because we forget what’s in our closet. You don’t need 5 black pencils skirts, Tiff!

Here is an idea of some style goals I want to set. I’ll kickstart it then you adjust to your own personal needs and particular style:

  1. Only keep items that I absolutely love and that make me feel confident.
  2. Focus on a fit that flatters and become BFF’s with my tailor.
  3.  Buy fewer Boho chic items this year. (I have enough already!!)
  4. Purchase more modern & clean items and less embellished.
  5. Purchase more higher quality items that are investment pieces. It’s ok to allow for a lower end, trendy items to mix it up and help the check book.
  6. Explore bright colors that I haven’t worn in a while like canary yellow & hot pink.
  7. Embrace my figure and feel more comfortable wearing body con dresses to emphasize my waist. (Why not? I’ve been working out like a mad woman!)
  8. Add more camel & cognac like get a lightweight camel coat or trench.
  9. Check out Rent The Runway.
  10. Have fun going a bit blonder with the highlights.

Also, as I always mention- please take some time a the beginning of each month to set your intentions. We are shedding the winter blah’s and allowing for the rebirth of new ideas and goals. Grab your journal and get quiet. Think about what you really want. Visualize it. Pray about it. Part of my intentions for this month is to stay at peace no matter what.

Today’s #Tiffirmation Tweet:

Don’t allow anyone or any situation to steal your peace. Stay grounded and don’t get caught up in other’s chaos or drama. Peace = Power.

Wishing you all a stylish & blessed March!

Comment, share or tweet this so your girlfriends can set some style goals too. Maybe find a friend and do this together!

Love, Tiff

DEFLECT THE BS!

anti_bad_vibeshield

Good Morning Gorgeous!

My spiritual mentor and sisterella, Dr. Melanie Ross Mills posted this yesterday and I just had to share it with you all.

May the force be with you today! You have the power to deflect bad vibes, bad moods, narcissistic behavior, manipulation and not take others BS on as your own.

CHOOSE TO DEFLECT.

SET THE HARD BOUNDARY.

DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE TORNADO OF DRAMA.

STAY CENTERED.

LET GO OF YOUR PEOPLE PLEASING WAYS & STAY TRUE TO YOU.

My tweet this morning:

To maintain honest relationships w/ others we must 1st be true to ourselves. Living a lie breeds inauthenticity in every area.

Again, you have the choice not take on other people’s BS.

Ok, go about being fabulous and free.

Love, Tiff
