POWER DRESS FOR PRESS

entertainemtn_t

[On set for our Entertainment Tonight interview with Brice Sander at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant]

What a whirlwind it’s been the past few weeks! The awesome kind of whirlwind with plenty of ‘pinch me’ moments. I had a plush room at the Four Seasons and dinner at Mastro’s- my favorite LA steak place while sitting across from other fellow Bravo family members like Dorinda, Ramona & Jules from RHONY and Shep & Cameron from Southern Charm. When you’re told that you and your cast mates are heading to LA for a big press tour, the panic starts with what to wear! Thanks to the brilliance of superstar stylist Jeanette Chivvis– the panic turned to peace & power.

Jeanette has this intuitive aspect to her styling. She just knows what is going to look most fabulous on you. I squealed when she showed me this canary yellow dress by Pink Lucy! It fit me perfect and I just knew it was THE dress for our Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight interviews.  As part of SOS, you know I’m a firm believer in the power of color. I felt happy, radiant and strong in this yellow. Day 1- a total style success!

Day 2- We had a full day of press junkets and red carpet interviews at the NBC Universal Summer Press Day. About 200 media outlets from all over the world are there to get the latest scoop on NBC Universal’s new stars and programming. My bestie, LeeAnne Locken and I were paired together for all the interviews so we made sure to coordinate our ‘power’ outfits. Jeanette had this stunning red custom made for me from London and she pulled this amazing white jumpsuit from Escada. To finish my look, she added jewelry from local Dallas designer, Harper Hallam. Nailed it! Oh and talk about a pinch me moment- looking over at the press booth next to you to see Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandell. I know what you’re thinking and yes, Heidi Klum is even more statuesque, stunning and stylish in person!

Back in Dallas, we started our local press tour with the lovely Meredith Land for NBC5 at the hotspot, Bistro 31.  Jeanette pulled this off-the-chain Elizabeth & James dress from Rent The Runway. Ok…seriously, I want to have this dress made in every color! It fit me like a glove and was super comfy. All about class, power and great fit.

Then, we were off to Culturemap Dallas for a fun interview with the fab Dawn Neufeld. Can we talk about my ridiculously fabulous new nude Louboutin’s?  Your dress needs to feel powerful, but your shoes should as well. I treated myself to a new pair specifically for this press tour. A great nude open toe heel is a life saver! If you do not own a pair put that at the top of your shopping list for Spring. I also love Stephanie’s patent nude Loubou’s. Really the perfect shoe. Period.

Our final stop was back at Bistro 31 for a very interesting interview with the Dallas Observer. I decided to change up my look and absolutely love a great jumpsuit! Love this kelly green, twist neck jumpsuit by BCBG is going to be my go-to for 2016. The Loubou’s worked again!  Are you getting it now..the importance of color when you’re going to a special event? Cary, Stephanie and I just ‘pop’ in this photo. Whether it’s a job interview, a wedding, important event or hot date- YOUR power color is always best! A great LBD always looks chic, but I always go for color first.

The cherry on top of my big day was running into my BFF, Heidi. I love that our outfits matched! She was there for a quick happy hour with her hubby. Her colorful scarf style maxi sundress was so fun, sexy and fresh. Great tip: Throw a light sweater over your shoulders for the unpredictable Spring weather.

Our final Dallas press day began at the Dallas Morning News with the fun & sassy Dawn Burkes. We were told we could go more casual for this interview. I tried something I always want to do, but always forget. I added a contrasting shoe with my fabulous yellow blouse. It was so fun and I highly recommend it! Cary had an important surgery right after this interview and I love that she’s rockin’ her scrubs. It is REAL life!

LeeAnne finished the day at CW-33. I chose this nude blush flowy dress by BCBG. Another great tip for doing on camera interviews or if you are on stage for a speaking engagement- more than likely you will be sitting in a tall directors chair or bar stool. Make sure to never wear a super short dress. Not flattering on the legs!

SPRING 2016 STYLE GOALS

Pink_BCBG

HELLO GORGEOUS!

Happy March!  Are you as excited for Spring as I am? The weather has been amazing in Dallas and I’m ready to put away the drab coats and pull out the bright colors. A few days ago, I had the fun opportunity to attend Erika Jayne’s performance. (Thank you again 103.7 KVIL for the VIP treatment) She is one of the newest cast members of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills and WHOA- talk about a powerhouse!  As I was fishing through my closet to find just the right outfit that would be worthy of wearing to a performance by “the pretty mess” herself- I came across a bubblegum pink BCBG dress with the tags still on. Why do I keep bypassing this dress? Is it too bright? Was it out of my color comfort zone? I love pink, but I guess I just haven’t worn it much.

I always encourage you sistas to try new things. It was time to listen to my own advice. Trust me, I tried on several outfits and even showed my hubby trying to get him to convince me to wear anything BUT that hot pink dress. He loved the pink. As I stepped out of my comfort zone, this got me thinking of you and how we should all set some style goals for Spring!

This is the perfect time to take a Saturday and clear the clutter. Go through your closet and make an assessment of the items that need to stay, to be donated and items you need to add. Check out my oldie, but goodie video on closet organization. Often, we buy the same things over and over because we forget what’s in our closet. You don’t need 5 black pencils skirts, Tiff!

Here is an idea of some style goals I want to set. I’ll kickstart it then you adjust to your own personal needs and particular style:

  1. Only keep items that I absolutely love and that make me feel confident.
  2. Focus on a fit that flatters and become BFF’s with my tailor.
  3.  Buy fewer Boho chic items this year. (I have enough already!!)
  4. Purchase more modern & clean items and less embellished.
  5. Purchase more higher quality items that are investment pieces. It’s ok to allow for a lower end, trendy items to mix it up and help the check book.
  6. Explore bright colors that I haven’t worn in a while like canary yellow & hot pink.
  7. Embrace my figure and feel more comfortable wearing body con dresses to emphasize my waist. (Why not? I’ve been working out like a mad woman!)
  8. Add more camel & cognac like get a lightweight camel coat or trench.
  9. Check out Rent The Runway.
  10. Have fun going a bit blonder with the highlights.

Also, as I always mention- please take some time a the beginning of each month to set your intentions. We are shedding the winter blah’s and allowing for the rebirth of new ideas and goals. Grab your journal and get quiet. Think about what you really want. Visualize it. Pray about it. Part of my intentions for this month is to stay at peace no matter what.

Today’s #Tiffirmation Tweet:

Don’t allow anyone or any situation to steal your peace. Stay grounded and don’t get caught up in other’s chaos or drama. Peace = Power.

Wishing you all a stylish & blessed March!

Comment, share or tweet this so your girlfriends can set some style goals too. Maybe find a friend and do this together!

BUNDLE UP IN STYLE: Tiff’s 4 Favorite Coats For 2015

Vintage-Leopard-Coats-New-York-Fashion-Week-FW-13-20130226_0379-1024x850

L : Editorial shot from L’Officiel de la Mode n. 596, 1972. R:  Italian stylist Giovanna Battaglia, New York F/W 13 Fashion Week.

I absolutely love coats which is ironic because I absolutely hate cold weather. The one good thing about living in Dallas is being able to actually wear a coat. In my 15+ years in California, I probably wore a coat a total of hmmmm- five times. The temps have dropped to the low 40’s here in Dallas and I’m excited to pull out my new coats. Since I rarely wore them in LA, coats were never on my Fall ‘must have‘ list. My coat closet was full of old boring coats so this year I went on the hunt to freshen it up.  Here’s my top picks:

BURGUNDY MOTO JACKET

burgundy_jkt

Burgundy is making a big splash this Fall and I think it’s a nice change from our staple cropped black leather jackets. But, treat it like your black jacket and wear it with everything and every color.  I found a great  faux leather jacket on Amazon for only $45 for you ladies who prefer a vegan option.   The jacket I bought is a wool and faux fur mixed texture by BCBG. I scored it for 70% off! (image below)

BCBG_burgundy

LEOPARD STATEMENT COAT

leopard_coat

As you can see from the image at the top of the post, a leopard coat is always in style. It looks great with everything from casual denim to dressed up with an LBD. I picked up this one on Amazon Fashion. It’s under $100, super warm and cozy and a timeless shape I will be able to wear for years. A total investment piece!

PUFFER COAT OR VEST

puffer_vest

The puffer coat gets hot every few years just like leopard, but it really never goes out of style. I love to wear a puffer vest over my workout clothes or on a power walk when it’s chilly out. This quilted style with faux fur hoodie is so cute, chic and comfy. I bought black, but it comes in several colors. The gold hardware gives it a more expensive look even though it’s under $30.

GRAY FAUX FUR

gray_jacket

gray_nastygal

As you know, I am a faux fur fanatic and have several cropped jackets in white and black, but this year it’s all about the shades of gray. From pale dove gray to darker pewter, make sure to add this to your winter wardrobe. I picked up a marbled gray with all shades of gray and love it!

BE FAB FRIDAY! It’s All About The F’s {New Webisode}

Tiff_Fall_closet

HAPPY FRIDAY FASHIONISTAS!

I know what you are all thinking…“It’s about time Tiff!”  All good things come to those who wait.. patiently! LOL.  Trust me, I have missed making videos as much as you have missed seeing them. BUT, it’s been for good reason! Not only has my husband (cameraman) been traveling and crazy busy working on his own amazing projects, I have been focused on becoming a long-distant surrogate mama to a remarkable young woman, plus I’ve been working more with private clients. It’s been an art to keeping it all running smoothly and not to get spread too thin. I’ve been taking my own advice and taking regular “me” time!  That being said, the hard work is paying off and my SOS webseries (my baby) has officially become a toddler and TURNED 3 this month! {{{HAPPY DANCE}}}

I feel like rambling so bear with me…

I’ve been reminiscing about this journey and wanted to encourage any of you who have the dream of starting a business out of a passion. Perhaps you have a message and want to share your voice with the world on a blog, but you are afraid. PLEASE start today! Whatever your passion or message is.. someone in the world needs it and we are all here to help the world in some way or another. Trust me, I was shakin’ in my wedge sandals when I posted my first rinky dink blog. It was about my fave mascara, Voluminous by Loreal. I crack up when I think of it now because I had soooooo much more in my spirit to share than just makeup tips. I still have much more to share! Look how fast 3 years has gone by. Don’t wait another day. I made a business plan, wrote a mission statement and just DID IT! Have I wanted to quit? A million times. What fuels me is YOU…..and the many women all over the world who may need a simple style tip or something deeper that reconnects them to Spirit. All of it is extremely important to me. Have I made mistakes? Heck yea! Ya dust yourself off and keep on keepin’ on. What is inside you that needs to be birthed? Every day that goes by, think of all the people missing out on your gifts.

Ok, back to FASHION! In the latest webisode, I share a handful of styles I think we can all incorporate into our Fall wardrobe without breaking the budget. Check it out:

Here’s a list of the items in the webisode. For under $200, I added these fresh new items from places like H & M, Forever 21,  Nordstrom Rack, Marshall’s + TJ Maxx. All other items are from my closet:

NO! Two Little Letters…..So Much Power (Plus Part 2)

Hi Powerful Peacocks!

You ready to get your fill of Beauty, Style + Inspiration?  This blog post is busting at the seams with it!  You may want to grab a pen and paper.  Kick back and let the fun begin…

Not being able to SAY NO is a topic that comes up often among us gals. If you don’t have an issue with it- kudos girlfriend!  It is definitely something that took me a while to get a handle on and still find it to be a challenge.  Grrrr- this tiny little word with those two little letters can have such a kung fu grip on us.  We all have so many commitments these days between our families and their commitments, friends, career demands, church, community plus all the extra-curricular activities like small group meetings, team sports, etc.  WHEW!  I’m worn out just writing all that. Women tend to be “people pleasers” and do not want to let anyone down by not agreeing to help with a task, do a favor or attend an event.  It is just a fact that you cannot be productive if you over-commit yourself! By spreading yourself too thin, you will end up jeopardizing your important priorities and ultimately your health and stress level.   Take the pressure off yourself and start saying “NO” politely and with love.  Here’s 5 tips to help you get started:

  1. YOUR TIME IS PRECIOUS!  Start valuing it by dedicating your time to your priorities. If you don’t have your priorities straight, then start there first!
  2. PRACTICE SAYING “NO”!  Like everything in life, we must practice, practice, practice. Eventually you will be comfortable saying it. I promise.
  3. BE UNAPOLOGETIC! It is important to be polite, but it’s okay to be firm when you are protecting your time.
  4. TAKE A BEAT!  It is totally acceptable to say, “let me get back to you” or “maybe later”.  If it’s a situation that sounds interesting, but you simply do not have the time for it right now- maybe you can rearrange your schedule or fit it in when you have some free time later.
  5. LET GO OF THE GUILT!  Stand your ground and respect your decision for saying no.   We tend to feel guilty later, but that serves no purpose. Let it go, you made your mind up and move on.

Do you find saying “NO” difficult?  Have you overcome it?  Please leave a comment!

HERE’S PART 2 OF KILL THAT SUMMERTIME SHINE:

A few of you have already picked up the Physicians Formula SPF 50 and said you love it! Woohoo!

STYLE TIP FOR THE WEEK:

One of the reasons I love summer so much is that we’re able to rock fun exotic prints that have an international flare plus tropical florals, great woven bags and bright jewelry like that great turquoise piece you picked up in Mexico!  I’ll be chatting more about this in an upcoming webisode on MY SUMMER ESSENTIALS.  A great Tribal or Navajo print is definitely a MUST ROCK!  I’m drooling over this BCBG dress that just came out:

A BIT OF DESSERT WITH A CHERRY ON TOP:

I was asked for my recommendations on books I found helpful along my path of Spiritual growth and healing.  There are so many more that this list, but here is a list of books I highly recommend:

  1. The Bible. The best “self help” book ever.
  2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.  I like to read this once a year!  It’s not just about financial riches.
  3. The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide To Personal Freedom by Miguel Ruiz.  4 simple but profound things to apply to our lives to bring peace, grace and unconditional love.
  4. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Learning to live fully present. Another one I re-read yearly.
  5. Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer.  The most brilliant guide to overcoming negative thinking and depression.
  6. As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. I actually keep this on my nightstand 24/7. It’s all about your thoughts relating to your circumstances.
  7. The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Encourages determination and a never-give-up attitude.
  8. Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen. Steps to living your full potential.
  9. Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential  by Carolyn Myss. Discovering your life purpose.
  10. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.  Helps unlock creativity and the Spiritual connection to it.

A few other’s that just popped in my head that I just cannot leave out are A Course In Miracles,  A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

Do you have a ‘must read’ book that was life-altering for you? Please share!
