May is National Skin Cancer Awareness Month so it’s the perfect time to answer one of the questions I am asked most often. How do you get that bronzy glow? I love a healthy tan, but it’s just not safe to bake in the sun these days like we used to with the baby oil or Hawaiian Tropic oil. I’m sure we’re paying for it with the discoloration battle and premature aging. UGH! It’s totally possible to protect your skin all while looking like you spent a week on some beautiful tropical beach. There are so many effective self-tanners (video topic coming next week) and bronzers on the market today so it’s easier than ever to keep that healthy glow.
I don’t normally do makeup tutorials, but here’s my best attempt:
- The IT Cosmetics CC Cream can be found at Ulta.
- Get the Heroes Beauty Bronzer HERE.
- The ISH palette HERE.
- E.L.F. products found at Target, CVS, Walmart, etc.
If you’re hitting the beach, lake or pool this Memorial weekend, here are a few more ways to protect your skin:
1// Use SPF 30+ and apply 20-30 minutes before sun exposure. Make sure to get your ears, hands + feet!
2// Wear a tightly woven hat and avoid those cute loosely woven straw hats.
3// Cover up. Cool, dark colored shirts and wraps absorb ultraviolet rays more.
4// Wear SPF 30+ lip balm.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET.
Wishing you all a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend.
Love and prayer goes out to all the families who have lost a loved one serving our country.
Happy Weekend My Loves!
After spending an hour in Ulta trying all the popular BB & CC creams, I am thrilled to share my top pick with you ladies. It’s seriously a magic product and I wish I had found it months ago. The IT COSMETICS CC+ with illumination and SPF 50 makes you look flawless and it saves time. Hallelujah!
Here’s the MAC #187 stipple brush I buff the cc cream with:
What did you think of my candid “Video from the Vanity”?
I have several new beauty products to share with you so stay tuned!
Comment and let me know. I would love to hear your 2-cents.
Make sure to share this with your friends. This product is perfect for the busy woman!
As I mention in the video, please release any unloving thoughts about yourself and begin the daily mirror work of telling yourself you love yourself! Focus on your strengths and unique qualities that make you beautiful. The moment you are about to cut yourself down or tell yourself you are stupid- STOP! Replace those abusive thoughts with loving ones and watch your life transform.
I LOVE YOU, TOO.
Summer solstice arrives tomorrow which marks the official start to summer. Yipppeeee! For you that are moms, I am sure you’re busy planning lots of activities with the kids while they’re out of school so I’ll make this as short + sweet as possible today so you get on with the summer fun.
You’ve probably heard about the BB + CC Cream craze by now. These are brilliant beauty multitaskers that renew, brighten, even skin tone, hydrate and protect. I am a diehard fan of the Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 50, but I wanted to test out something new for summer. When the weather changes, so does my skin and I tend to get a few light breakouts so I like to switch things up. I am pleased to tell you that the Garnier BB Cream for Combo/Oily skin is awesome and the colors blend so well on the skin unlike many others that have a pasty white undertone. It prevents that “summertime shiny face” and really lives up to it’s claim of lasting all day. The only downside is it’s only an SPF 20 so I make sure to wear my Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70 underneath. Also, if you have dry skin- this is not the BB Cream for you. Garnier makes a few different types for your specific skin needs. CVS $12.99
Just about every store I’ve been in lately has these fun printed leggings. Seen them? Some prints are way too crazy and should never grace a pair of legs, but I do like the black and white graphic prints. It’s such a nice alternative for summer instead of those boring black lululemon yoga pants. I had to take my own advice– and choose the bold print over the same old black leggings and walk confidently out the door to yoga class. I was a bit nervous, but I have to tell you… I felt like a rockstar in yoga! Strangely enough, I even had a better workout. Just remember, some of the prints can make the junk in your trunk a bit too junky– if ya know what I’m saying– so wear a longer tank that covers it. The best ones I’ve seen are from H&M.
Recently, I had the privilege of leading a workshop with a group of amazing women of all ages. One of the topics we covered was COMPASSION. I want to share our discussion with the hope that it will inspire and help you live with more compassion, not only for others, but for yourself:
COMPASSION- A feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
- How compassionate are you overall?
- Do you have genuine compassion for others?
- Do you have compassion for yourself? Enough so to make the necessary changes needed to live your best life and alleviate any suffering you are experiencing?
Step Up: Be more compassionate and loving toward yourself and others. See the light in others despite a hard exterior. Put yourself in their shoes in order to see where they are coming from. Reflect on the areas you know you need to make changes. Write them down. Attach a timeframe to your goals. Walk it out. Devote time to nurturing yourself. Be a blessing to others even in the midst of your own storm.
“Compassion is the ultimate and most meaningful embodiment of emotional maturity. It is through compassion that a person achieves the highest peak and deepest reach in his or her search for self-fulfillment.” -Arthur Jersild, Professor/Author
