My Diet Has Gone To Bootcamp

“Your body starts falling apart at 45.”

“Oh, just get used to that pooch below your belly button aka meno-pot.”

That’s what I keep hearing from women lately and no disrespect, but I’m not buying what you’re selling ladies. There are plenty of women out there over 50 who are living healthy, fit, vibrant lives. I’m choosing that route. Life is all about choices.

As you all know, I had some health issues last year due to stress which made my endocrine system, thyroid, adrenal glands and kidneys to start shutting down. For my 45th bday, I started the journey to balance my hormones and get my health under control. It has taken a lot of work, research, trial and error. Our health is everything and I intend to be more aware and diligent than ever after the years of abusing my body with harmful behaviors.

Ok, back to the topic of choices and changes.

Over the past year of working on my hormones and metabolism, I figured I would fluctuate a few pounds NOT 8-10! On a smaller framed gal, that’s the difference in a few jean sizes and I’m sorry– But, I have some really cute pants I would prefer fitting into than going shopping for bigger sizes. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love to workout. It keeps me sane as well as fit. How frustrating to work out daily and keep gaining. GRRRRRR!

By the end of April this year I was feeling much better than I did last year. I implemented regular detoxes with TeaMi Teas to keep my gut and organs healthy as well as cutting way back on the weekly glasses of wine. But…DANG IT, the scale kept going up!

I’ve never been a big scale user because of dealing with mild eating disorders during my modeling days. I would get obsessed or fixated with a certain number which became unhealthy, but it is the best method to gauge our results. Usually I would go by the way my clothes fit, but let’s face it– I live in really stretchy jeans. Not the most accurate way to gauge your weight. When you workout regularly, eat clean and cut out the booze and you’re still not losing–

complete disappointment, hair pulling, slamming the fridge door, a few curse words and utter frustration!

I believe in inviting God into every single aspect of our life and I began seeking Him for  answers and healing. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been led to several remedies. Thank you Lord!!  The military diet is one of them.

DISCLOSER: If you have medical issues, please advise your physician before starting any diet program. I am simply sharing my experiences and do not claim that this will work or be safe for everyone. Please do your own research before trying  any program.

The Military Diet is a combination of low calorie, chemically compatible foods designed to work together and jump start your weight loss. Because the diet is 3 days on and 4 days off, it doesn’t slow down your metabolism like other diets. It’s a type of intermittent fasting with 4 days off eating your normal healthy diet. I started this last week and was surprised how doable and simple it was.

Of course, I was a bit HANGRY the first day, but I woke up on day 2 feeling really good. Over the 3 days, I lost 3.5 pounds. WooHoo! I’m sure half of that was fluid and water weight, but that’s ok. After the scale not budging for 4 months, I was thrilled to find something that was effective.

The past 4 days off I have enjoyed my green smoothies, salad with chicken breasts, soups and favorite healthy snacks. During the 3 days on, I realized I had been snacking way too much so I got back to using the app called LOSE IT. It’s a great way to log your meals, snacks and workouts to help stick to your program. I will not weigh myself again until the weekend. It can be discouraging to weigh yourself daily so choose one day a week at the same time of the day every time. I prefer first thing in the morning and butt naked. Just sayin! Today, I begin round 2 of the 3-day diet and I’m actually looking forward to it. Call me cray! Here’s what today looks like:

I’m no a fan of the word “diet”, but it is what it is. The Military Diet is free and I encourage you to learn more about how it works before starting it. Ok, I’m off to have my toast, peanut butter and half of a grapefruit. We have to change things up if we want results. What’s the saying, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” and that’s exactly how I was feeling over the past few months. Insane! I’m seeing sanity in the very near future. Yay!

Cheers to change and better choices!
