TOP 5 KITCHEN ITEMS FOR EVERY SKIN TYPE By Guest Blogger- Asia DeMarcos aka BEAUTASIA

Hi Superhero’s in-training!

I’ve had a few clients text me today with skincare emergencies. One wanted a hydrating mask, the other had just burned herself. So I got to thinking. Why not blog about this to share with you. Here are my top 5 kitchen collaborators for every skin condition.

AVOCADO-hass

1. Avocados- Skin Types: Dry, dehydrated, red, inflamed or rosasea. I love having plenty of these on hand. They contain a rich natural oil that’s great to condition your skin and hair. It also contains niacin, which has been great for inflammation. Perfect for rosacea. Mash it up and put it on you face for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with luke warm water. Beautasia note: Rinse off in kitchen sink where there’s a garbage disposal.

honey

2. Honey- Skin Types: Dry, dehydrated, Sun Damaged, Acne, Aging. This sweet tea compadre is also good for dry skin. It’s a humectant. Which means it will draw moisture into the skin. This amber colored delight is also an anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial so its also perfect for aging and acneic skin types. Take 1 tablespoon of honey and apply to face. Leave on 15-20 minutes. Rinse with luke warm water.

3. LemonSkin Types: Oily, Acneic, Sun Damaged, Non Sensitive. This amazing liquid is a natural antiseptic and contains natural acids that will exfoliate the face.  These acids will also naturally brighten sun damaged skin. It can be a little drying, so don’t use it if you have super sensitive skin. The acid and antiseptic will also kill those zits! Apply directly from the fruit of squeeze in a bowl and apply with cotton ball or round leave on skin. Beautasia note: Best to sleep on face overnight.

4. Apple Cider VinegarSkin Types: Oily, Enlarged Pores, Acneic and burned skin. Apple cider vinegar or ACV as it’s known on the streets is great for balancing the body’s ph inside and out! Pour it on a burn and it will draw out the sting. Apply to acne or oily skin so the malic acids and lactic acids with gently exfoliate and kill bacteria. Apply directly on areas with cotton round.

organic-olive-oil

5. Olive Oil- Skin Types: Dry and Aging. This favorite cooking companion is a nice bath counterpart too. Add a few tablespoon in your bath and watch the dry scaly legs go bye bye. Olive oil is rich in anti-oxidants that will protect you skin from further environmental damage. Mix a little of this with avocado or honey for SUPER hydrating mask. Leave on face as a moisturizer or blot with paper towel. I personally love it as an eye makeup remover. Watch this video I made on how to properly remove it.

Try and mix some of these ingredients together for multiple skin issue. My all time favorites that make my skin soft and bright is 1/4 mashed avocado and 1 teaspoon honey. Please share some of your kitchen favorites in the comment section below. Happy mixing!

Weekend Love + Pampering

Hola Chicas Bonitas!

Is anyone celebrating  Cinco de Mayo with a yummy skinny rita, tacos and great amigos?  We’re doing pre-production and setting up the lights in the new closet to start taping long overdue webisodes TOMORROW!  Yay, I’m so thrilled to share fresh ideas, tips and inspiration with you!  Today’s blog is to remind you to do something specifically and solely for YOU this weekend chica.  When you take the time to love and pamper yourself, you will have the energy to give more love out!  When we feel depleted or haggard- what happens?  That witch with a capital B comes out and we put out more cranky and less love.  We definitely do not shine our brightest either.  Right?!

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO FOR YOURSELF THIS WEEKEND?

Maybe you need to book a massage?

Take a steam sauna?

Curl up with a good book?

Go for a long walk alone?

Get a mani/pedi?

One thing I love to do on weekends is give myself a healthy homemade facial.  Right now I am dealing with a slight hormonal breakout so I gave myself a Greek yogurt and lime juice facial.   It’s so simple and you don’t need any fancy-shmancy ingredients or products.   The lactic acid in the yogurt softens and exfoliates the skin.  It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin.  It is also an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial so it’s fantastic for killing acne causing bacteria.  The lime juice acts as a toner for oily skin.  All you need is:

  • 2 Tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt
  • Juice from 1/2 a lime (Limes aren’t as juicy as lemons so press down on it + roll it a bit on the counter to soften it before you cut it. This will help make it juicier)

Wash face with warm water to open pores. Apply mask all over face being careful of the eye area.  Leave on for 20 minutes then apply a warm wet washrag over face and pat for about a minute.  Rinse thoroughly and follow by applying your fave moisturizer.  Get glowing with clear skin!

For more homemade facials, watch this webisode from last summer:

If you are making skinny ritas this weekend, check out my two-cents on the different brands:

Last thing- have you checked out Jessica Simpson’s jewelry line?  She is killin’ it with the accessories these days and her latest line of earrings are fabulous.  You know I love gold hoops and these are fun with a bit of added oomph. A sweet “just because” gift from my BFF Heidi…

Have a fun and safe weekend!  If you have a specific topic you would like me to discuss on an upcoming webisode, feel free to share it.  I will be shooting weekly again and love to get ideas and feedback!

Salud!
