CAN YOU BELIEVE 2011 IS HALFWAY OVER?
We have 6 more months to see our 2011 goals and dreams come to fruition! Yay! So this is the PERFECT time to get your “RE” on. What the heck is Tiff talking about, you wonder? That brillliant little prefix, RE, that means to DO AGAIN!
- REnewed is to make new again.
- To REview and REevaluate is to look over again and REvise one’s assessment.
- REvive is to bring back to life.
When was the last time you looked over your 2011 goals?
Please don’t tell me when you made them on New Year’s Day! Ok girl, then this is time to pull out that journal, notebook or pull up that word doc on your computer and dust them off and REevaluate where you are. Hey, it’s totally OK if you have only checked off one thing on the list. Give yourself a break, but after you’re finished giving yourself that break…GIVE YOURSELF A KICK IN THE PANTS! The beautiful thing is…you have 6 more months of the year to make things happen! REvive your dreams today!
Do you have a vision board?
If so, BIG HIGH FIVE CHICA! I’m a firm believer in the power of visualization and have been utilizing vision boards since I was in junior high. (Thank you mom for allowing me to plaster my walls with photos, posters, funky art and just about anything that inspired me…even if it was Blackie from General Hospital! HA!) When we hold an image in our mind on a daily basis our subconscious is activated and helps us to stay motivated, creative and focused on those goals and dreams! There is no magic formula or structure to a vision board. It is yours to create! It’s basically ANYTHING you want to achieve and see come to pass in your life. Not only do photos and images play a role, but add quotes, phrases and affirmations to add power to your vision board!
I love to change it up at the mid-year point! Stopping and taking a look at what you have and have not achieved gives you a clearer perspective on the areas you need to grow in and focus on. If there is anything I have achieved, I take it down from the vision board and put new dreams and images up. Seeing goals reached truly motivates you and gives you more confidence to KEEP GOING!
It’s such a fun and creative process! I put on my fav tunes, light a candle and flip through magazines, books, cards from friends, photos, etc. Do this on a day when you do not have time restraints so you can allow your creativity to FLOW!
- Start with quieting your mind, take a deep breath and really go inward and ask yourself “what do I want my life to look like, who do I want to become, what can I do or change to be of better service to my family, my community, the world”?
- Put your adult ego aside and allow yourself to be like a kid. DREAM BIG! Then have fun exploring and cutting out anything that catches your eye.
- Lay it all out and narrow it down to ONLY the things that truly fit your goals and dreams.
- Paste your choices to a posterboard or tack them to a corkboard, which is what I prefer.
- Make sure to hang your vision board in a spot so you will see it on a daily basis. Mine is in my office.
- If you have kids ages 7 and up, this is a fantastic activity for them to start doing. Makes for some family fun.
I’m going to give you a glimpse of my vision board. Hope it inspires you!
Now, let’s take it a step further… I would love for you to share something from YOUR vision board so I can hold your dreams in my thoughts as well. This is powerful! Don’t keep your dreams to yourself. Sharing them with your close friends or having a mastermind group of like-minded women helps you stay accountable! JOIN ME!
GREAT AFFIRMATIONS. Any wise words or quotes that you need to remember. This can really help in changing negative thought patterns.
CAREER. These are women that inspire me. You know how I feel about Oprah. I not only admire Audrey Hepburn for her on screen charm and style, but for the difference she made in the world with her philanthropic heart. The “Breakfast with Tiffany” on the TV set drawing is from a dear friend who gave me an encouraging card before my Oprah audition. (Thanks LG!)
FITNESS. Now I know I will never look like Giselle, but this is a reminder to get off my lazy a$$ and workout:-)
LOVING YOURSELF/ SPIRIT. A photo of myself at 3 or 4 as a reminder to nurture the little girl inside of me. Use any photo that is a great representation of YOU…the authentic you before the labels and responsibilities. This little toe-head always marched to the beat of her own drum..a free spirited tomboy in blue jeans:-)
Have a blast and CHEERS to the rest of 2011 bringing you more fulfilled dreams, happiness and the life you’ve always imagined! It’s there just waiting for you to grab it! NOW GO GET YOUR “RE” ON GIRLFRIEND! Yeehaw, Tiff xo
