THE FIRST WEEK OF SPRING= FABULOUS!

Hey Sistas!

You know those week’s we have periodically that are just perfect…like a dream, full of fun and magical moments. I just experienced a week like that!  Today, I am reveling in the blessings and had to share it with all of you. If you are on Instagram, this may be a repeat for ya, sorry. The lesson I relearned from this week was the power in reaching out and doing for others during your own difficult time. The week prior, we had a very challenging time with some business situations and I needed to get out of my head and stop focusing on my present circumstances. It did the trick…

Let’s start with last Saturday: I have mentioned meeting a remarkable young woman named Jessica Youngblood who has a ministry called Just Fabulous Events which helps build confidence in teen girls. She is a recovered meth addict who has transformed her life through God’s love and healing power. Her mission is in alignment with mine and I truly believe in Divine connections which empowers us to do more together than we can all alone. Jess asked me to be part of the event as emcee and stylist of the fashion show. I was honored and so blessed by the entire experience. There is nothing better than seeing a big group of adorable girls giggling and having fun! But, my favorite part of the night is toward the end when the girls are given a quiet moment to reflect on  what they need to give over to God to heal. It could be any broken part of their life. They write it on a rock and go lay in down at the foot of the cross. It was so beautiful to see all the girls go up to the front and release their pain. SO Powerful! I wish we had an event like this when I was a hurting teenager!!  Click to see more pics and “like” her Facebook page.

Then on Monday: My bestie Heidi wanted to give our girlfriend Christine- who is recovering from a year of chemo and a mastectomy- a special birthday gift.  One can only imagine how devastating that experience can be on a woman’s self-esteem so what better to help her feel glam again? A professional photoshoot with hair & makeup and starting the day with a blowout at Drybar! Heidi asked me to be part of the special day and help her get Christine ready with a great outfit and beautiful makeup. Christine said it was the most beautiful she has felt in 2 years. Mission accomplished. WOWZER! How gorgeous does she look…

Jump to Tuesday & Wednesday: I can’t remember the last time both my sister and I have been home at the same time. It’s been years! She flew in to Houston for a brief visit so I jetted down there for some QT with the fam. Our favorite thing to do with our Mom is load up on energy with some TexMex then spend hours digging through thrift stores. As soon as we enter the store, we separate. The hunt begins! We will holler across the store to one another with a find- as if we struck oil. We try things on and begin the fashion show giving each other a thumbs up or down. This would make a hilarious reality show! Our family has been through a lot of healing over the years and has had it’s share of tough times, like most families, so I cherish these precious moments more than ever.

The remainder of the week was filled successful work stuff, auditions, one of the best girl’s nights ever-  plus, seeing my coaching client really step it up and rock her session with me. I’m like a proud mama! This first week of Spring will go down in the HERstory books for me.

Here’s a quick hair tip (this blog post is all over the place), but for you ladies who are wanting a longer ponytail- this is the best hair trick I’ve ever come up with. I only wish I had figured it out years ago! Thursday was swamped and I didn’t have enough time to wash and blowdry my hair for girl’s night. I thought a high ponytail would be quick & ez, but my pony looked wimpy and short. BINGO- I added a second ponytail underneath and voila- problem solved. I felt like “I Dream of Genie”. So fun and will be my go-to summer style!

STRUT IT! Let’s Start a Mental Makeover Movement #SOSstrut

Catwalk

Happy Friday Fashionistas!

Ok, no small talk.. I’m cutting to the chase – who else had a crappy week? Is it safe to say that as we get older, that one little hour we lose to Daylight Savings has the power to wreck our world? I’v noticed many a Facebook Status with similar complaints and have even had a few friends say they are downright emotional and cranky. As  I sit and write this blog, I feel like a train wreck and as if I haven’t slept in days. Actually feels like I’m coming down with something. Let’s hope not.

I desperately need a nap. Let me hurry and finish work so I can get to that.

OK- enough of the whining.

Yesterday, I had a few important meetings and needed to be on my game. I was in a fog, felt frumpy and needed a sprinkle of fairy dust or a kick in the rear to get me moving. Yes, I have those days too sista! I’m finally getting to my point…I had to dig deep and use my own motivational tips and tools to get my “STRUT” mentality rockin! Are you wondering what that means? If you have been following SOS for a while, you know that I not only teach style tips and how to choose the best foundation, but it all starts with your mental makeover.

You know when you are tired…what is the thing we tend to keep repeating over and over like a psycho? I’M SO TIRED. I’M SO TIRED. Yawwwn, I’M JUST SO TIRED. I had to literally tell myself to shut up and start thinking of how positive the outcome of the days meetings would be. I thought of the women I would be helping because of the meetings. Then, I got a shot of energy and became excited about getting dressed and getting out the door.

STRUT IT.

My attitude and thinking had officially turned around and I took it a step further as I entered my closet. A Facebook Follower made the comment last week that she has trouble wearing her new items and tends to keep wearing her worn out things. She was wondering what the mentality was behind that. I can relate or I just get lazy and tend to reach for the familiar. Is it that old way of being and low self-worth that tries to creep back in? Yesterday, in the closet- I thought of that Facebook comment and decided to rock a new sheer white blouse. It was one of the first warm days of Spring and I was meeting with some pretty fantastic people and wanted to look my best. It’s so easy to grab the things we’re most comfortable in and it may take a bit more effort to choose new fresh options. The outcome of walking out of the house feeling fabulous is so worth the extra effort.  Then, Oops!… I did it again (do you hear Britney in your head?)… I put one foot in my comfy “old faithful” black platforms and said to myself- Wait a minute, Tiff- quit going to the same old, same old. So, I reached for my power shoes, my happy over-the-top fuchsia heels that I discuss in my shoe webisode. I really do try my best to practice what I preach!

STRUT IT.

By the time I drove to my first meeting, my entire day had changed and I felt like a million bucks. Everywhere I went, those power heels plus my positive attitude helped me envision that the world was my catwalk. Now, today- I had a casual morning meeting and was able to come straight back home to work in my yoga pants – even if I’m still cranky and needing a nap- I’m strutting on the inside because I am doing my part by posting this blog with the intention that it will help YOU. You may not be wearing power heels and running through the kitchen after your toddler, but in your mind- you can be strutting your stuff sista because you are a great mama! You may be stuck on the computer for hours at work, but instead of slumping over, pull those shoulders back and STRUT IT knowing that you are making your deadline! Wherever you are in life… STRUT IT!

IT’S A STATE OF MIND.

Before we can ‘own it’ on the outside, we have to change the way we think and rise up on the inside.

WHO’S READY TO STRUT IT?

Let’s start a movement.. a mentality makeover movement. Share this and tweet with hashtag #SOSstrut!

Hello Gorgeous!

Jessica_Y_umbrella{Photo by Marco Sierra of Sierrablu}

I’m excited to introduce you all to a beautiful young woman named Jessica Youngblood. When we decided to move to Texas, I started praying to be led to either a teen girl crisis center or youth outreach I could get involved with once I got settled there. On the very first visit to my bestie’s church called Shoreline DallasBAM, I met Jess. She was a greeter that day and passing out postcard invitations to the their women’s meeting appropriately called Sisterhood. I giggled to Jess about referring to my women’s community as a “sisterhood”. This tickles me so much…I love meeting Divine connections and kindred spirits! The first thing she asked me was if I was into fashion. HOLLA! This opened the door for us to chat & share our passions. She told me her powerful testimony of overcoming meth addiction and how she started her ministry called Just Fab~U~lous Events. She uses her creative fashion sense, her love for God and experience in the beauty industry along with her testimony to transform the lives of young girls. She keeps it real and walks her talk…and that’s with a very cute Southern accent!  Such a perfect fit with my passion and I have committed to helping Jess get the word out about Just Fab~U~lous and reach more girls! God answered my prayer.

What is Just Fab~U~Lous About?

“It’s about the “U” It’s not about what others think. It’s about U! While attending a Just Fab~U~lous Event you will learn to be the best U you can be through creativity, confidence and character!

Get creative with what you have been given. Learn how to do your hair and makeup in a way that embraces U. Learn to dress hot, not hoochy!

Stop trying to be something you’re not. Stop trying to be some version of “perfect” you think you should be and learn how to be THE PERFECT that God made you to be!

Your confidence will come when you believe God made you just the way He wanted to.

When you believe that, a peace like no other will come over you.

Once you have that down and want to begin to live life to the fullest, you have to get your character in check! In the middle of the word Character is act, so get to act-n-right. Line up with our owners manual for this life… the BIBLE!”
