HOW DO YOU SEE YOURSELF TODAY?
HOW DO YOU ENVISION YOUR FUTURE SELF?
DO YOU EVEN HAVE THAT VISION?

_________________________________________

One of the 1st topics we tackle when I work with women -once they are ready to hire me and be more intentional about their growth- is to get clear on the vision for their life and the woman they want to become. When I hit rock bottom and started turning my life around, I took some time to craft a personal mission statement. This is a powerful exercise to help you to cut through the static, get your eyes off of what everyone else is doing and get focused on your purpose/mission/destiny.

As a woman thinketh, so is she.

(Really pause for a moment and ponder that. Whatever and whoever you think you are… you will be. Check out this great video by Oprah!)

Nothing lights me up more that seeing a woman finally decide she’s sick + tired of shrinking back and is ready to be her most unapologetically fabulous self. She has  felt paralyzed as if her stilettos were stuck in cement and is finally fed up with marinating in her junk. There is nothing more powerful that a woman who has made up her damn mind!

Where are you looking today?

Stop trying to emulate (which is a fancy term for copy) someone else’s vision. I get it, it’s easy to become distracted in our world of perfectly photoshopped Instagram grids. Everyone else’s vision is smack in our face 24/7 and being shoved down our throat. You have the choice what you take a bite of and ingest. We can celebrate someone else’s vision and purpose instead of trying to copy them. You were given your own set of awesome, badass, unique gifts and so was that other gal. Get your own vision, put blinders on, cut the crap and go after it with all your gumption, all your gut, all your grit.

VISION: as the act or power of imagination; mode of seeing or conceiving (love that.. like being pregnant/expectant); unusual discernment or foresight.

FORESIGHT: the ability to predict or the action of predicting what will happen or be needed in the future.

Oh, and remember to breathe and have fun for cryin’ out loud.

Enjoy this process and do what YOU love!

PASSION> PURPOSE> PEACE

3-ps

Happy Monday Darlin’!

Last week, I was honored to be given the opportunity to share my story and empowerment tips with a women’s group called Equipped By Faith led by my dear girlfriend, Sabrina Harrison. We wanted to make the evening interactive with a Q & A session. It was so powerful! Every woman in the room instantly connected and felt safe to share their personal experiences as well.

A question Sabrina asked me has been resonating with me which meant I just had to share it with you sistas.

What advice would you give to other women who are looking for their purpose in life?

There were 4 steps that came to mind when I thought back to my searching and seeking season. I wasn’t sure what my purpose for a very long time and I always say, “Sometimes when we’re running from our past, we run smack into our purpose”. For me, that means that my past– all the experiences (good & bad)– played into me finally stepping into my purpose. I was HURT, went through HEALING and then was ready to HELP other women get here as well.

1st) Always seek God to reveal it to you (Matthew 6:33-34). Invite God into your vision board process. You were born with purpose and destiny and God is the one who placed it inside you. Always seek the One who created you to find out what you were created for.

2nd) Pay attention to the things that light you up.  What are you passionate about?  Webster defines passion as: a strong feeling of enthusiasm or excitement for something or about doing something. When I’m coaching or speaking, I get so lit up on the inside that I feel like I’m buzzing. I don’t have to pee and I don’t feel hungry. I am so focused and passionate about on my purpose for that specific session/ event/ workshop. I’m present and not distracted (and I am easily distracted.. SQUIRREL!!). Pay attention to all of these things.

3rd) Look back at what you wanted to be at 10 years old. I wanted to be a teacher and an actress. What do those things have in common? They’re communicators. We can get so shifted by what our parents want us to do or get distracted by what your friends are doing, but you need to focus on what God has called YOU to do. Whether I am on Real Housewives, Sanctuary Of Style, teaching workshops or coaching clients– I am a communicator and open up others to communicate.

4th) How can you make the greatest impact and add value to others? I am passionate about women. I began having a deep desire to add value to and enrich women’s lives. The clearer I was about this passion, the more peace flooded into my life and spirit. (Remember, I’ve been transparent about my past with anti-depressants and anti-anxiety RX’s! I don’t think I ever felt a day of peace in my 20’s). In 2007, I was so hungry and eager to get out there and find women I could help. I started with what was logical to me at the time so I looked up modeling schools, charities geared for women and clothing boutiques. Your purpose is always linked to adding value and being of service to others in some capacity.

Pray for laser beam focus.

Focus on what God has for you every single day.

God divinely orders your steps.

Pay attention.

Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by little things that will derail you from your purpose. For example, I keep my phone on silent when I’m working on my blog (like right now), on a Skype session with a client, having a lunch with a good friend, quality time with my husband, etc. The phone can be our biggest distraction these days! There are exceptions– I know you mama’s need to have your phone on so your kids can reach you. But, if you’re always on the phone scrolling through social media or texting with people who do not need your immediate attention– you could miss out on God appointments even important moments with your kids!

Stepping into your purpose and destiny can be difficult. Everyone wants to find their purpose. What they are really searching for is happiness and joy. I am a MUCH happier, joy-filled gal because I’m living my purpose. Just because you find your purpose doesn’t mean you’re floating around on a cloud wearing a pink tutu and all of a sudden life is grand. Purpose-driven appointments will put you in situations where you have to be bold and face your fears–BUT that, my dear, is where the magic to life is.

Remember, being peaceful is being powerful. That’s a #Tiffirmation y’all.

Trusting the process,

Tiff

Happy Monday Sistas!

Just a quick bit of inspiration and motivation for the week and month ahead…

Can you believe it’s the last day of October? We have about 60 more days of 2016 to finish the year strong. If you have been part of SOS for a while, you know I love the first of the month for reviewing the past month and setting intentions for the new month ahead.  Just as we do at the beginning to the year, instead of new year goals it’s new month goals. Make sense? How do you want the rest of 2016 to play out? How do you want November to look?

Also, I just had to share this powerful message from the Shine Conference I attended last night. Oneka Mcclellan had us say the above message to the women sitting next to us, “You are loved, You are valued. You are believed in”. I want to say it to you virtually today! I cherish this blog community and my mission it to help you realize your worth.

OWN IT!

Love & Light,

Tiff

HELLO AUGUST: Make Your Dreams Happen

Hello_August

This summer is flying by and as we say hello to August, I want to remind you to set your mind and your intentions back on to your dreams. You’ve spent time making beautiful summer memories for your children and focused on fun and family. Now, I encourage you to dust off those dreams you put on the back burner. It’s not about being selfish, but about being the best you can be and living the life you dream of!

Here is a list that will help you get focused! This is a list I live by + practice:

  1. Wake up each day in gratitude.
  2. Say your affirmations daily.
  3. Devote time every morning to prayer + connecting with God.
  4. Journal + write down your dreams, goals + intentions.
  5. Create a vision board or vision book.
  6. Practice positivity + see the bright side of every situation.
  7. Be generous + giving. (stingy blocks your blessings + keeps you in lack)
  8. Get quiet + listen to your inner voice.
  9. Compliment others instead of competing with them.
  10. Let go of fear + be a risk taker.
  11. Be conscious of the beauty + miracles around you everyday.
  12. Embrace change when you feel stagnant.
  13. Shut up the self-defeating inner dialog.
  14. Do things that inspire you + ignite your passion.
  15. Be purpose + mission-driven. (stop wavering)
  16. Stop numbing yourself with food, shopping, alcohol, internet, etc.
  17. Encourage yourself instead of constantly discouraging.
  18. Trust in God’s Greater Plan for you.
  19. Do things that scare you. (this builds confidence)
  20. Live in a constant state of gratitude instead of complaining.
  21. Quit worrying about what other’s think.

HOW WILL YOU GO CONFIDENTLY INTO AUGUST?

Remember what I always say…

Dreams have no expiration dates.

Cheers to an Amazing August!

MONDAY MOTIVATION: Change Your Bad Attitude to Gladitude (with a must see video)

badattitude_tire_puncturepic

You awake and stir in your bed. You roll over – yawn, stretch and moan for a minute. This moment is one of the most critical moments of the day. This moment can determine whether you start the day with a bad attitude or with ‘glad’itude. I am naturally a morning person, but as I get older with more nights of disrupted sleep and ever changing hormones – I find that I wake up feeling exhausted more often than I care to count. Thank God for coffee!!! But, even more important than coffee is being conscious of our thoughts in that very critical moment when we wake up.

Do you feel the flood of thoughts race through your mind from what you have to do that day to how your neck hurts from sleeping on it wrong to that demanding email someone sent you the night before? In that moment, it’s vital to put up a stop sign in your mind and flip your thoughts to things you are grateful for. I try to be diligent with this practice and by the time I’ve pee’d and made it downstairs to the coffee pot- I’m saying ‘thank you’ and feel the exhaustion lift and my attitude transformed. Of course, I’m not perfect at this every single day, but I try my best. That’s all we can do, right- try our best.

Here’s a few ways to keep a positive attitude:

1) STOP BLAMING: Your attitude is your choice. It’s easy to blame other people (our kids, our spouse, our boss) for why we have a bad attitude. You are giving them power over you. It’s not really about what happens TO you, but what happens IN you. Your happiness is YOUR responsibility. Bad things happen to us everyday, but what counts is our attitude toward it. That ensures we retain the power.

2) COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS: I know I mention this quite often on the blog, but it truly changes everything. When we focus on our burdens instead of our blessings- inevitably we bring more burdens into our lives. That’s the foundation of keeping a bad attitude. The moment you choose to focus on the many blessings in your life- watch more blessings arrive keeping you in a state of ‘glad’itude!

3) GO BEYOND LIMITATIONS: All of us face limitations in life like lack of talent, money, from the wrong side of the tracks, learning disabilities or even physical disabilities, but it’s our attitude toward those limits. I grew up in a lower income family in a not so great area outside of Houston, Tx and lived in a trailer park until my little sister was born at age 5. My family was also of mixed ethnicity, but I didn’t know that would be an issue until I was in junior high. Whatever it was within me- maybe a deep desire to see the world- I had a firm attitude that I wanted to go beyond that small town and achieve my dreams. We may start out in a trailer on the wrong side of the tracks, but that doesn’t mean that’s where we have to end up.

Please take a moment to watch this. This man’s attitude is remarkable. I need to watch this once a month when I start complaining about the cellulite on my legs- at least I have legs!

It makes that demanding email we got or that massive pimple we woke up with seem so unimportant. Be grateful. Do not energize the things that feed a bad attitude.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

Go out there and strut your stuff sista,

Tiff Xoxo

MONDAY ‘Mind Over Matter’ MOTIVATION…Shut Up Tiff!

Tiff_Skirt_from Jess

I’m one who diligently tries very veryyyyyy hard to practice what I preach. I’m not even a fan of the word preach so let’s replace that with the word, teach. That sounds better, right? Why should I expect anyone to listen to what I have to say if I’m not walking the talk?

My confidence can waver just like yours. My negative self-talk can bombard me like a banshee and let’s just say.. my poor husband. My hormones can hit me like a freight train. One day I’m skipping like a school girl with butterflies swirling around my head and the next day I could karate kick anyone who gets in my path like I’m Laura Croft. Am I walking tall on those days? Not so much. I can admit it.

I know you are used to my empowering motivational messages, but sometimes life just gives you it’s best shot and I can only ‘keep it real’ here on the blog. That’s what the vast world of blogging is all about.. sharing your experiences, tips, advice and life with the hope to inspire others. Some days I’m sure you think- Shut up Tiff! I’m just not feelin’ it.

I’m not a whiner and loathe it when women play the victim so let me make it clear here- this is neither a whine session or rant. I have a lot of good days, great days as a matter of fact, but I also experience the ebb & flow, ups & downs of life just like you. Even on the down days- there is a silver lining and lesson to it.

The photo above is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. I’m going to just put it out there- the day I took this photo I had cramps so bad they woke me up and it felt like the devil had set up his hell camp right in my abdomen. This was a week earlier that expected so my period tracker app said. Ok, we all deal with this and it can be quite juvenile to discuss it at my age, but I promise it goes with the topic at hand. I had an important lunch meeting that day that had already been rescheduled once. I had to suck it up and take my own advice…Mind over matter, girl. What I really wanted to do was curl up in bed with some chocolate, a bag of Doritoes and zone out to the Food Network. (who loves Cutthroat Kitchen?)  I was also dealing with a serious life-threatening issue (which makes my monthly situation look like a walk in the park) with the beautiful teen girl I mentor. I mean really? I have trust that God is in control even when I feel so out of control.

I popped some advil for the cramps.

The positive self-talk begins.

The affirmations roll off my tongue.

I pray for help.

I choose a cute outfit. ( A big thanks to my dear friend Jessica Youngblood of Just Fabulous Event for the ‘just because’ gift of that adorable black & white skirt instead of what I wanted to wear.. a moo moo so I could rub my belly.

I listen to Miranda Lambert on the way to my lunch meeting and pump myself up… “Go and hide your crazy and start actin’ like a lady”.  By the time I got there I was walking a bit taller than when I left the house. A woman’s will to fake-it-till-we-make-it and practice mind over matter is miraculous and borderlines – a superhero power. Who agrees? With everything we have on our plates, the hormones that can make us feel like we got the life sucked out of us and all the people and different personalities we have to deal with- women are true superheroes even if we can’t find our cape and aren’t walking so tall. Come on, a man gets a little sniffle and you would think the world was coming to an end.

Some days just suck. Those are the days you roll your eyes at the computer when I post a “Walk Tall” motivational message. (I forgive you!)  You don’t want to put your shoulders back and walk tall, but sista, stand up on the inside then eventually you will be walking tall on the outside. It’s especially important to put on a cute outfit when you’re feeling down instead of the sweats or moo moo.

Mind over matter combined with a cute outfit can totally change your day. I promise.

Love, Tiff
