INTENTION CREATES REALITY {Sunday Affirmations}

intention

HAPPY SUNDAY SISTAS!

How was your first week of 2014? Were you able to get in some quiet time to set your intentions, goals and/or resolutions? I spent several days working on mine. Remember, it’s great to take your time with this task- even if it takes you a few weeks. I also had an empowering 3 hour ‘mastermind’ meeting with a trusting friend so we could share our goals with each other. This creates accountability and sets you up for success in a bigger way! This also activates creativity in each of you to come up with ideas to help one another achieve these goals.

Are you wondering what it means to set an intention?  I believe it’s basically making up your mind what you want. How often do you hem & haw about things?  It is so powerful when we get clear, get focused and make up our minds. Then, the real power is in the follow through.  I also believe we are setting intentions when we pray and share with God what we want a desired outcome to be.  Let’s look at intentions without follow through.  How often do we say things like…Oh, I intended to call youOh, it was my intention to lose 5 lbs before summer…I’m sorry I hurt your feelings it was not my intent??  It feels pretty crappy, right?  Let’s get to following through, shall we?

I see the word intention as a fancy name for GOAL– but, with an added oomph of Spiritual Power behind it.  Without intentions for our life, we tend to wander.  If you feel like you have lost direction and are wandering through life, here are 5 steps to setting intentions:

  1. DECIDE.  What do you want the outcome to be?  It’s as simple as that.  Making the decision is a huge first step!
  2. WRITE IT OUT.  Make it official by writing your intentions in your journal or putting up sticky notes in places you can see them on a regular basis.  I have sticky notes on the sides of my computer monitor, bathroom mirror and fridge.  This is a powerful daily reminder to keep your thoughts going in the right direction.
  3. SHARE.  Find a trusting friend/mentor or group to hold your intentions with you.  By sharing your desired outcome with others, you create a “mastermind” of positive thoughts.  One of my favorite books is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.  His definition of a mastermind is– “Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”  Make sure to share with those of a like-minded spirit and steer clear of anyone who may try to sabotage your goals or be unsupportive.
  4. LIVE IT.  Act as if your outcome is here NOW!  Speak as if it’s here.  Your words and actions have a powerful effect so be mindful of what you are doing, thinking and saying.  Get committed!
  5. NEVER GIVE UP.  Period.

I know what you are thinking right now– Hey Tiff,  so what’s the difference between affirmations and intentions?  They are marriage partners, first cousins, Batman + Robin!  Affirmations are basically spoken intentions.  They are the daily statements we declare over our lives based on our intentions.  They help you course correct when you tend to wander.  Affirmations and intentions are the power combo to creating the life of your dreams!  Add in specific actions, prayer and a vision board then WATCH OUT– you are destined for success!

THIS WEEK I WILL….

  1. Really think about what I want.
  2. Make up my mind already.
  3. Stop hemming + hawing.
  4. Set intentions for 2014.
  5. Share my intentions with a trusting friend.
  6. Join or create a mastermind group.
  7. Act as if my goals/intentions are here now.
  8. Step out of fear into faith.
  9. Open myself to receive success.
  10. Pray for guidance.
  11. Claim that I am destined for..and deserve the life of my dreams!

What do you INTEND to do? {Sunday Affirmations}

Happy Sunday Sweet Friends!

Here’s a video message from the beach…

Are you wondering what it means to set an intention?  I believe it’s basically making up your mind what you want.  Yes, it sounds simple, but like I mentioned in a post last week– it’s powerful when we get clear, get focused and make up our minds. My hubby and I have had a somewhat challenging few months so I made up my mind that no matter what– May was going to be amazing!

I see the word intention as a fancy name for GOAL– but, with an added oomph of Spiritual Power behind it.  Without intentions for our life, we tend to wander.  If you feel like you have lost direction and are wandering through life, here are 5 steps to setting intentions.  It’s very important to put your Faith behind it and trust God for guidance.

  1. DECIDE.  What do you want the outcome to be?  It’s as simple as that.  Making the decision is a huge first step!

  4. LIVE IT.  Act as if your outcome is here NOW!  Speak as if it’s here.  Your words and actions have a powerful effect so be mindful of what you are doing, thinking and saying.  Get committed!
  5. NEVER GIVE UP.  Period.

  10. Pray.
  11. Claim I am destined for… and deserve the life of my dreams!

What are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear.

NO! Two Little Letters…..So Much Power (Plus Part 2)

Hi Powerful Peacocks!

You ready to get your fill of Beauty, Style + Inspiration?  This blog post is busting at the seams with it!  You may want to grab a pen and paper.  Kick back and let the fun begin…

Not being able to SAY NO is a topic that comes up often among us gals. If you don’t have an issue with it- kudos girlfriend!  It is definitely something that took me a while to get a handle on and still find it to be a challenge.  Grrrr- this tiny little word with those two little letters can have such a kung fu grip on us.  We all have so many commitments these days between our families and their commitments, friends, career demands, church, community plus all the extra-curricular activities like small group meetings, team sports, etc.  WHEW!  I’m worn out just writing all that. Women tend to be “people pleasers” and do not want to let anyone down by not agreeing to help with a task, do a favor or attend an event.  It is just a fact that you cannot be productive if you over-commit yourself! By spreading yourself too thin, you will end up jeopardizing your important priorities and ultimately your health and stress level.   Take the pressure off yourself and start saying “NO” politely and with love.  Here’s 5 tips to help you get started:

  1. YOUR TIME IS PRECIOUS!  Start valuing it by dedicating your time to your priorities. If you don’t have your priorities straight, then start there first!
  2. PRACTICE SAYING “NO”!  Like everything in life, we must practice, practice, practice. Eventually you will be comfortable saying it. I promise.
  3. BE UNAPOLOGETIC! It is important to be polite, but it’s okay to be firm when you are protecting your time.
  4. TAKE A BEAT!  It is totally acceptable to say, “let me get back to you” or “maybe later”.  If it’s a situation that sounds interesting, but you simply do not have the time for it right now- maybe you can rearrange your schedule or fit it in when you have some free time later.
  5. LET GO OF THE GUILT!  Stand your ground and respect your decision for saying no.   We tend to feel guilty later, but that serves no purpose. Let it go, you made your mind up and move on.

Do you find saying “NO” difficult?  Have you overcome it?  Please leave a comment!

HERE’S PART 2 OF KILL THAT SUMMERTIME SHINE:

A few of you have already picked up the Physicians Formula SPF 50 and said you love it! Woohoo!

STYLE TIP FOR THE WEEK:

One of the reasons I love summer so much is that we’re able to rock fun exotic prints that have an international flare plus tropical florals, great woven bags and bright jewelry like that great turquoise piece you picked up in Mexico!  I’ll be chatting more about this in an upcoming webisode on MY SUMMER ESSENTIALS.  A great Tribal or Navajo print is definitely a MUST ROCK!  I’m drooling over this BCBG dress that just came out:

A BIT OF DESSERT WITH A CHERRY ON TOP:

I was asked for my recommendations on books I found helpful along my path of Spiritual growth and healing.  There are so many more that this list, but here is a list of books I highly recommend:

  1. The Bible. The best “self help” book ever.
  2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.  I like to read this once a year!  It’s not just about financial riches.
  3. The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide To Personal Freedom by Miguel Ruiz.  4 simple but profound things to apply to our lives to bring peace, grace and unconditional love.
  4. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Learning to live fully present. Another one I re-read yearly.
  5. Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer.  The most brilliant guide to overcoming negative thinking and depression.
  6. As A Man Thinketh by James Allen. I actually keep this on my nightstand 24/7. It’s all about your thoughts relating to your circumstances.
  7. The Power of Intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. Encourages determination and a never-give-up attitude.
  8. Your Best Life Now by Joel Osteen. Steps to living your full potential.
  9. Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential  by Carolyn Myss. Discovering your life purpose.
  10. The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.  Helps unlock creativity and the Spiritual connection to it.

A few other’s that just popped in my head that I just cannot leave out are A Course In Miracles,  A Return To Love by Marianne Williamson and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

Do you have a ‘must read’ book that was life-altering for you? Please share!
