FullSizeRender-94

A woman’s hair is her ‘crowning glory’ and for a Leo like me…… it’s well, everything! It’s our mane! As you know, I love hair. Big hair. Rocker hair. Keith Urban-esque hair. Highlighted hair. Curled hair. Bombshell sexy hair. 70’s Cher straight hair. So, it’s important to keep my hair as healthy as possible with all that styling happening on a daily basis. Thanks to my girlfriend and PR beauty Ali Volk, I was introduced to the amazing gilrbosses of Dear Clark, Holly Dear and Kaycee Clark.  Their superstar colorist Bria Haworth has been doing my balayage highlights and Holly does my cut. 5 Fall Styles You Can Wear NOW!

Happy Last Weekend of August,

We are all so ready to put away the flip flops, maxi sundresses and shorts, but Mother Nature is not cooperating here in the South. All of the September mags are taunting us with rich colors, suedes and faux fur, but I’m sweating just thinking about putting on a shearling coat right now! The temps are still fluctuating in the 90’s here in Texas, but we can begin to incorporate a few of the hottest Fall styles into our wardrobe while still keeping comfy and cool.

Here is what I’m pulling out of my closet NOW:

FRINGE_fall_winter_2015_2016_handbag_trends_fringed_handbags

1) FRINGE HANDBAG:

Can I just tell you how happy I am that fringe is still holding strong? I’ve been wearing a fringe bag all of 2015 so if you haven’t tried the trend yet- this Fall is the time to do it! As the temps drop, rock a fringe jacket, but not at the same time as the bag. TIFF’S TIP: One fringe item at a time please! You don’t want to look like a bad country singer.

70s_skirt_trend

2) 70’s SKIRT:

I’ve always loved the snap up 70’s skirt and had one years ago. Dang it, I wish I still had that skirt!  From a denim midi skirt to a suede mini, this is the IT skirt for Fall 2015. TIFF’S TIP: Add a modern blouse or blazer (instead of doing head-to-toe 70’s) to keep from looking like you just walked out of a thrift store.

White-frilly_blouse

3) AMPLIFIED WHITE BLOUSE:

The white blouse is a wardrobe staple and I better find a great one if each of your closets! Ya hear. But, this Fall it’s all about the romantic girlie vibe when it comes to any type of blouse especially a white blouse. Try one with ruffles, statement sleeves, embroidery or oversized collars. I love this frilly one from Zara! TIFF’S TIP: Go for more modern frill instead of oversized ruffles to keep from looking like Capt Jack Sparrow.

Suede-Leather-Ankle-Boots

4) SUEDE BOOTIE:

You know I am obsessed with booties! I am also obsessed with suede so I am stoked for it to explode this Fall on everything from boots, booties, handbags, skirts and jackets. To keep your legs cool while it’s still warm out, grab a fab pair of suede booties then switch to knee high or over-the-knee when it gets cold.  TIFF’S TIP: Don’t forget to spray your new suede items with a suede protector. I have forgotten this in the past and ruined some amazing suede shoes! BooHoo.

IMG_8343

5) FLARES:

This is my absolute favorite pant this year. Flared jeans and slacks lengthen the leg and allow your calves to breathe. My favorites are by J. Brand because the denim holds you in like spanx and are so flattering. (I get compliments every single time I wear mine!) TIFF’S TIP: I cannot stress enough the importance of the length when you wear flares. If they are too short..well, JUST DON’T DO IT! This cheapens the look and will actually shorten your legs.

Remember to shop your closet before making unnecessary purchases. Which of the 5 will you start wearing NOW?

I’ll be back with a longer list of my Fall favorites via video! I’ve been doing my “research” and have comprised a great list.

Blessings for a Spectacular September!

Take some time to set your intentions for the month and take it a step further and visualize how you want the remainder of 2015 to play out. Staying stylish is important to feel confident and put your best image out into the world, but you MUST start with your spirit first. Our outer world reflects our inner world!

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS, SISTA!

#FF WEBISODE: 7 Summer Drugstore Steals

Happy Friday Gorgeous!

Believe it or not, I actually have to go back to my own webisodes and tips to remember some of the products I like. That is exactly what happened today!  It has been 100 degrees every day this week and my beauty regimen needs some help. I watched my webisode from last summer and then took a quick trip to Target. Thought you ladies may need a refresher as well:

Product List:

  • Palmer’s Coconut Oil Deep Conditioner, $1.47 Target
  • Treseme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo, $4.99 Walgreens
  • Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil Spray, $6.29 CVS
  • Tree Hut Olive & Shea Hawaiian Kukui Sugar Scrub, $7.99 Target
  • Dry Brush with long back handle, $4.49 Target
  • Jergens Natural Glow Gradual Tan Moisturizer, $11.99 Target
  • Banana Boat Sport SPF Sunscreen, $6.94 Wal Mart
  • Sonia Kashuk Yellow Alluriana Fragrance, $19.99 Target

Please remember to hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more during the hot months. With that vacay or two and extra time off during summer, please remember that coffee, tea and alcohol dehydrate us even more. For every cup of coffee, drink two cups of water. Before and after that rita by the pool, order a bottle of water.

Happy Weekend!

SUMMER SKIN & HAIR SOS: Healthy Hippie Chick

Happy Friday Sassy Sistas!

I hope your June calendar has been filled with fruity sips by the pool, long lazy naps and memory making moments with those nearest and dearest. After a whirlwind Spring, we kicked off June with my family’s annual glamping trip to West Texas. My dad has been going there since he was a kid, then took us as kids so it’s even more special to be able to share that vacay with my parents now that we live in the Great State. We have minimal cell service and absolutely no wifi so our time is filled with grilling, watching the hummingbirds and catching up on great convo by the river and perhaps- saying nothing at all. Don’t you love being able to just “be” with those you love? My batteries are officially recharged! I didn’t’ even pack makeup. Yes, I’m serious! Ok, you know I don’t’ go anywhere without lipgloss.

With the Summer chillaxing also comes the bad tan lines from falling asleep on your stomach by the pool and chlorine dry hair that resembles a scarecrow. Our skin and hair needs constant attention during the Summer months even though we rather be on the low maintenance side. If you’ve followed SOS for a while, you know I become quite the hippie during June, July & August. We can still unleash our hippie chick and keep ourselves looking and feeling healthy. We don’t want to go into damage control at the end of August with horrible hyper pigmentation and split ends.

Here are the latest products I’m in love with and seeing amazing results:

skinceuticals-phloretin-cf__58391_zoom

SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Serum

You all know I’m a serum junkie and forever on the search for the most effective one. I heard about SkinCeuticals years ago, but never got around to purchasing and trying it. HOLY MOLY!!! What took me so long. It’s the mother load of all serums and packed with antioxidants. Phloretin CF shields skin from damaging free radicals as it restores a more radiant, even complexion. I started using it at the end of May and can already see a dramatic difference in my skin.

BIOSIL

BioSil – Advance Collagen Generator

In combination to the SkinCeuticals, I started taking the supplement BioSil primarily to thicken my hair line after my sister recommended it. I didn’t realize in addition to thicker hair, it would plump up my skin. Proof that beauty, rejuvenation and health always starts on the inside. You can purchase it at Whole Foods.

alba-good_clean-scrub-web

alba BOTANICA good & clean toxin release scrub

We sweat more and our pores are overactive and creating more oil during warm weather. You know what that means? The dreaded blackheads take over! Yuck! For years I used the Swiss Ives Apricot Scrub and still trust that it is one of the all time best scrubs. This good & clean scrub by caught my eye recently in Target and the term “toxin release” peaked my interest. (The power of great marketing!!) This Spring I’ve been wearing more full face makeup than normal and spray tanning again so my pores have gotten super clogged. Combine that with the Texas sweat and my face needs a good scrub down exfoliation on a regular basis. Once a month doesn’t cut it!  Not only does this scrub provide great “scrubbing” action with the ground walnut, but the ten AHA-rich botanicals detoxes the skin to reveal refreshed radiant skin. I LOVE IT!

Loreal-Total-Repair-5-Damage-Erasing-Balm

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm

If you are spending hours in the pool or salty beach water, do yourself a favor and run to Target and get this hair balm today! It’s just amazing. There’s not much else I can say. It works. My hair feels silky, strong and shiny. Just go get it. It’s the best $5.99 you’ll ever spend.

Have you found a fantastic Summer skin or hair remedy?

DO SHARE.

I will be back regularly again with my latest beauty & style tips as well as sharing some spiritual beauty tips.. which are always the most important.

I’ve missed you sistas!

L’OREAL LOVE: Spring Skin Spruce Up

Happy Fab Friday, Gorgeous!

With the change of seasons and new fashion trends, I am always inspired to try new makeup and skincare products as well. I’ve been using Revlon Photoready Foundation and Makeup For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation for the past few years and they are both still fabulous, but being the researcher I am I decided to try the  L’Oreal foundations. This drugstore diva went on the hunt!

I have been hearing so much about the Armani foundations, but ummmm…with the price tag over $60 I decided to find the drugstore equivalent. You can buy a concealer, powder,  foundation, blush and mascara at Target for the same amount. I found out that the L’Oreal Group owns Giorgio Armani Beauty and that means there may be some cross-over formulations. I was right! I tested the Armani foundation at Sephora  and the coverage and texture is almost identical to the L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Skin Perfecting Foundation. Who else loves the $10.99 price tag at Target?

LorealMagicNude

Because I deal with puffy under eyes and dark circles, I am always trying new concealers hoping to find one that totally deals with this problem area. I am yelling HALLELUJAH from the mountain top for the L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer. The “blur” effect is real, sista! It’s super blendable so you’ll never have the raccoon look plus the “lift” property gives your under eye a more youthful look. Completely in love with this concealer! The L’Oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation rocks, too.

loreal_visiblelift_blur_concealer

Here’s more love for L’Oreal… my new favorite foundation is the True Match LUMI Healthy Luminous Foundation! It takes 5-10 years off the look of your skin. Yes, I’m serious. It’s made of 40% pure water for all day hydration and filled with Antioxidants, Vitamins C & E for even skin tone and texture. The “Liquid Light” Technology gives you an instant, luminous glow! HOLLA! I love that it has SPF in it for extra protection as well.

Have you tried any of these L’Oreal products?

Give us your 2-cents and make sure to share this blog with your sistas!

Spring is around the corner so make sure to spruce up your makeup bag and chunk any old products. It’s the perfect time to try some new things.

Brrrrr In Style

I’m freezing and my teeth are chattering so I’m making this quick! It’s time to crank the heater, jump into my cute leggings, uggs & sweatshirt. It got below freezing this morning in Dallas and of course, I had to traipse around downtown in it on the way to a photoshoot. I wasn’t ready for it. There’s still a little bit of LA in me, I guess. My beanies, berets, faux fur scarves and gloves still need to be dusted off from the top of my closet.

Brrrrrrrrr.

I layered up. My trusty American Apparel V-neck Tee under a flannel plaid shirt gave me instant comfort and warmth factor.  Just because we’re getting hit hard with the low temps doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice style.

Here are a few things I can’t live without in winter:

Plaid_shirt-ralph-lauren-long-sleeve-plaid-print-shirt-profile

PLAID FLANNEL SHIRT

You may be thinking frumpy lumberjack, but there are so many cute flannel shirts at Target that are tapered to show your figure. I love these because you can layer them and throw them over a T-shirt. Because they button up, it’s easy to take it off once you’re in the warm indoors. Pair with skinny jeans, cute boots and a scarf and you have a great casual winter go-to outfit.

puffer_coat

LONG PUFFER COAT

This is a savior and is always in style. I’ve had a long puffy coat like this for nearly 10 years and it’s saved me when I’ve had to take trips to colder climates like NYC or Aspen. Your bootie and legs are covered, plus they usually come with a belt or are tapered at the waist so you don’ look like the michelin man.

floppy_fedora

FLOPPY FEDORA

I don’t care what you are wearing, if you add a floppy fedora – you look instantly glam. With the crazy winds & freezing rain during winter, a great hat will keep your hair in place as well as keep your head warm.

Target_gloves_touchscreen

TOUCHSCREEN COMPATIBLE GLOVES

Since we lives on our phones, it’s a pain to keep taking our gloves off and on to return texts. I love these rouched microfleece gloves from Target (on sale right now for only $6. 40) with special touchscreen thumb and index fingertips. Of course, when you are getting dressed up- opt for a beautiful pair of leather gloves instead.

There are several other winter items I can’t live without, but these things were fresh on my mind today.. the first true wintery day. All of these items are timeless so invest in the good stuff.

Stay warm. Stay stylish sistas! I’m off for a big bowl of hot soup.

Hey, what is the one item you would die without during winter? Comment and let us know.

SICK OF YOUR LOOK? 5 Ways To Get Out Of A Beauty Rut

Do you cringe when you see a photo of yourself because you’ve had the same old look since 1995?

Are you itching for a beauty change, but not quite sure what to do?

Can’t gather the courage to make a change?

As your personal cheerleader and instigator of change- here are 5 ways I get myself out of a beauty rut and if you’ve been watching me webisodes for a while you know I’m not afraid to change my hair. That’s the easiest and fastest way to make a transformation. I think I’ve had every hair color possible except pink or purple.

Here’s your nudge…

sephora

1) PLAY IN MAKEUP

On your day off, take an hour to play in makeup at Sephora and ask a makeup artist or consultant to give you some fresh ideas. It can be overwhelming and confusing because there are so many makeup lines. Try different color palettes that you normally do. If your skin has been dull and ruddy, test some new illuminating foundations and powders. I tend to lean toward muted colors on the lip, but it always makes me look washed out in photos. With the holiday parties around the corner, try a brighter red lip for fun.

TIff_bangs

2) GET YOUR HAIR DID

This is a difficult one for most women, but it’s also very liberating when we just go for it. There’s something emotional about cutting our hair. I’ve cut my hair in a pixie, a bob, a faux hawk (yes, in my Hollywood days when I realized I was miserable) and it’s been every shade between black and blonde. I am usually itching for a change by Fall and recently had my bangs cut and ombre highlights. That little change helped me get out of my beauty rut from the Summer. If you can’t do a total style change- at least try a more vibrant or lighter/darker version of your current color and try a few extra layers or change your part.

Whish_bodywash

HNGMam_cleanser_group_1024x1024

3) CREATE A SPA IN YOUR SHOWER

With the change of season, I tend to get bored with the cleansers, body washes and lotions I’ve been using during Summer. Try a new aromatic healthy body wash that creates a spa-like vibe in the shower. Plus, if you have dry skin it’s best to change up your body washes and lotions for winter. Look for hydrating and moisturizing brands like Whish Coconut Body Wash from Nordstrom. The ingredient list is so yummy! Also, the pH levels change in our skin with the change of seasons. This is an important time of year to pay special attention to our skincare regimen so if you’re in a rut- try a new cleanser. I recently started using the chemical free, all natural, aloe based skincare line – Hard Night/Good Morning by D’Andra Simmons. I especially love the AM Cleanser!  It’s an antioxidant rich exfoliating cleanser enhanced with jojoba beads to gently slough off dead skin cells and leave skin glowing. You feel like you’re giving yourself an at home mini facial every single day!

sephora_perfume

4) SWITCH UP YOUR SCENT

I had an interesting chat with some ladies a few weeks ago. We discussed who wore their same scent year around compared to those who squirted a different scent every time they walked out the door. How about you? Have you worn a signature scent all your life or do you switch it up? When I was a teen, my first favorite perfume was Tatiana by DVF named after her daughter. I wore it for years. I tend to stick to one scent until I get into a rut and am completely sick of it. I remember going through the Angel by Thierry Mugler phase. I wore it to death and can barely stand to smell it now. Sorry if that’s your fave! But if you’re in a rut, take some time to experiment and squirt some new fragrances on your trip to Sephora

bananaboatbeauty-products-Banana-Boat-Summer-Color-Self-Tanning-Lotion-Deep-Dark-Color

5) FAKE IT DON’T BAKE IT

By now, your Summer glow has turned to pasty white so add some color with a great self tanner. Nothing makes you feel better -instantly- like a tan. In fact, I’m about to exfoliate and shower then apply a good coat of the Banana Boat above. I prefer doing this at night before bed so you awake with a glow. Make sure to wear a long sleeve tee and long pajama pants to keep the color on your skin and off your sheets.

These five tips help me tremendously and I hope they help you too!  I know it takes courage to try new things even something as simple as a new hair color, but the beauty of hair is that it always grows back and you can always change the color. What have you got to lose? You may gain a fabulous new look. Life is too short to live with the same hairstyle each decade! Just sayin’…

BE FAB FRIDAY: 5 Fun Fall Bags

Hey Fab Girls!

We all have to carry a handbag. It’s one of the most important accessories because most of us keep our life in there, right?! So why not switch them out on a regular basis to add some fun & oomph to your wardrobe this Fall. Especially as the weather changes- a great bag can add some happy to a cold dreary day.

Here’s 5 fun bags I am loving:

photo 1-21

BOHO ‘JOPLIN’ FRINGE TOTE

By Deux Lux (amazing vegan bag co). Lightweight, but huge and will carry your entire life plus a laptop! Retails for $130, but I found it at TJ Max for only $49.99. Also comes in chocolate brown and black with beautiful gold hardware.

photo 3-17

BLACK & GOLD CLUTCH

I’ve been in love with the black & gold combo for as long as I can remember, but this Fall it’s hotter than ever. It’s got a disco vibe and pairs with just about any outfit. A popular style this season is the “box clutch” which I found at Sam Moon for about $16. I was beyond thrilled to score this pristine vintage genuine snakeskin clutch at a thrift store for $5.99. WOOP! These will be my go-to’s this Fall!

Blue_messengerbag

VIBRANT BLUE

Bright blue accessories are making a major statement for Fall. A great way to add a pop of color to a fun outfit and be handsfree at the same time is with a crossbody messenger bag from Target. They have so many fab styles right now!

photo 4-8

FUN & FURRY

Faux fur and shearling is on everything this Fall. From coats, sweaters, scarves, boots and even handbags. I’ve had this cute shearling bag for about 10 years. One of my vintage souvenirs from my life in LA.

burberry_fur_bag

Here is an amazing current shearling style by Burberry $2,995. Join me in drooling for a moment!

photo 3-18

METALLIC & CHAINS

A great metallic bag is a must have for every fashionista’s collection and rose gold is taking over this Fall. I love this cross body with a slight rose gold tint and Stella McCartney-esque chain look. Sam Moon $19.99

Which one do you love and must have?

DRUGSTORE DIVA HAIR

Happy Sunday Sista,

I think I’ve found the perfect combo of products to give hair volume and staying power! Since moving to a much more humid climate, it’s been a challenge to find the right hair styling products. You know I’m a drugstore diva and the products I’m loving that keep my hair full of body and texture are by Garnier Fructis. I didn’t plan this, but after a few really great hair days recently – I noticed all the products on my bathroom counter were in matching green bottles.

photo 1-18

I’m often asked to do a hair tutorial, but for now here is how I style my hair. This is a great system for long hair. Step by step:

  1. Apply the GF Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk after towel drying.
  2. Blow dry with large round brush turning head upside down the last few minutes. Gives hair more fullness.
  3. Set the crown of hair with 4 large velcro rollers.
  4. Lightly curl ends with 2″ barrel iron spraying each section with the GF Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray.
  5. Remove velcro rollers and shake hair upside down running fingers through curls.
  6. Back comb the crown with teasing comb or brush.
  7. Spray the GF De-Constructed Texture Tease Dry Touch Finish Spray around the crown & sides of head at the root.
  8. Lightly spray entire head with the GF Hairspray.

I know this is a lot of work & steps and I only set my hair like this about once a week. (Unless I have a very sweaty workout) In between washes I use the Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo. A hairstylist from my girlfriend’s salon, ERA Salon showed me how to back comb and tease properly with the right type of comb or brush. I found this great set by Goody at Target:

Voila.. End Result!

Tiff_Oct2014

I leave you with this thought as you prepare for the week ahead…

I captured and shared the photo above on Facebook because in the midst of a wirlwind week (on top of being sick) I was given this gift of such a beautiful, calm & peaceful moment. It was most unexpected in a totally unexpected place. I sat near a window looking out at the gorgeous sunset and realized how blessed I was. I mean, I start each day in prayer and gratitude, but life gets so busy and even down right chaotic. It’s important to find those moments of calm & quiet throughout the busyness of life. Those are my favorite moments and they tend to give me a little ‘fill’er up” to go on with the day.

Don’t allow yourself to run on “E”.

Love, Tiff
