Have you seen the LIVE videos YouTubers are doing? I thought I would try something new and give it a shot. This is a great way to continue giving you beauty + style tips from the Sanctuary without the tedious camera/lights set up and hours of editing. We will still continuing to do fun, produced videos– but, I plan to work a LIVE video into my schedule weekly as well.
This first LIVE video was on the fly and a bit all over the place, but it’s real and raw. I’m loving everything this season and show you a few hot tops for Fall. I’m figuring out how to actually put on some of the outfits so you can see the fit. Perhaps wear a black tank or shell and try things on over it?

Fall is every fashionistas favorite time of the year and it feels so good to be back in front of the camera taping new style tips for you! We’ll be creating a Fall Series with everything you need to know to look and feel your most fabulous this season without breaking the bank.
I’ve dusted off the shelves, pulled out the boots and cleared the clutter a bit. I encourage you all to take a weekend afternoon and get your own closet feeling like a sanctuary.
First up in the series is the top 10 must have clothing items.

As I sit tonight and write “thank you’s” to everyone who blessed me on my birthday, I thought it would make a great topic for a post. I love to send handwritten thank you cards and it’s an etiquette my mom taught me at a very early age. How about you? Do you take the time to write a note or do you rush and think a text or email will suffice?
Here are the top 3 reasons it’s so important to me:
1) STRENGTHEN THE BOND between you and the receiver. Whether it’s a business follow-up, personal thank you for a gift or hospitality at a dinner party- people want to feel appreciated. From writing the heartfelt note, stamping then mailing it tells that person you took the time for them.
2) BE UNFORGETTABLE and stand out. I cherish the handwritten thank you cards I receive from friends, family and clients. I received a lovely monogrammed one recently from a dear client which I have sitting right here in front of me on my desk. Her handwriting is beautiful and her words- so very generous and encouraging. I’ll remember her forever.
3) SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY and choose a card that reflects you and your style. When the receiver opens the envelope and pulls out the card- it’s like receiving a little piece of you and your heart. I always look for thank you cards in random places and find cute ones at Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx and even Target. It’s great to take it a step beyond and have cards designed with your name, logo and/or company. But, I always seem to find unique, fun styles and like to keep plenty in my desk at all times! I think I’ve always been a bit obsessed with stationary. The ones in the photo above are so me and SOS – don’t ya think? They are byRoobee by Mara-Miand I found them at TJ Maxx for $4.99.
Obviously, a text or email is better than nothing, but it’s really the lazy girl’s way out. Expressing gratitude is so important so why not go above and beyond to show your appreciation. Be of excellence. It’s another way we can practice ‘walking tall’ sistas. Everything is so instant these days with technology, but the art of a personal handwritten thank you note is an etiquette we should never allow to fade away.

With the hurricane devastation and important presidential election at the forefront of our minds, I have not felt it was appropriate to share any style + fashion tips. It just seemed superficial in the grand scheme of things. That’s the main reason I have kept the past few blog posts in the vein of inspiration, in case you were wondering:-) I welcome a bit of distraction now that the election is over! Who else had a headache all day yesterday? Ok, that’s all I’m going to say about that. There is enough discussion on TV and social media.
Let’s get back to talking about clothes, shoes and sparkly things! Thanksgiving is in a few weeks and that means all the holiday parties are right around the corner! Are you already shopping for that perfect cocktail dress? Here’s a few tips to remember when shopping… I receive emails and comments all the time about what type and color of shoes to wear with cocktail dresses. You can never go wrong with a METALLIC PEEP-TOE PUMP! This is a ‘must have’ staple we should all have in our closets. This pump is sleek + chic without all the bells, whistles, straps and blisters. The peep-toe is fun + flirty and you can rock them with slacks and skinny jeans as well. It’s really THE perfect shoe, in my opinion. Also, a big question I get all the time is what type of jacket to wear with cocktail dresses so I am reposting my webisode from last year. Lastly, never ever ever forget a sparkly cocktail ring! It’s the cherry-on-top of your holiday outfit!

How is your June going? I hope it’s filled with long lazy days sipping ice tea (or a skinny rita) with your bare feet kicked up and the warm breeze on your face! Ahhhhh–writing that made me want to go get a big glass of ice tea! Has anyone tried a few “must rock” items from the last webisode? I recently hit a new TJ MAXX in the valley (woohoo- there aren’t many in the LA area) and they carry just about all 25 of the items I spoke about. They have the best selection of floppy hats I’ve seen! Go get you one asap! I took a day off a few days ago and rocked my floppy hat at the beach. It protected my face great, but unfortunately, I was so exhausted I fell asleep on my tummy and burned by tush. Take note!

The most common questions I have been receiving lately is regarding CLOSET ORGANIZATION! It seems we all have an issue when we step into this sacred space. For many, it sounds like you are entering the Twilight Zone or Purgatory! This must STOP! When I started producing my videos and came up with the name Sanctuary of Style it was because all of my girlfriends would come over to borrow clothes and we would “play” dress up. Remember those times when you and your friends would get dressed together for a fun night out? You help each other create a killer outfit and everyone walks out of the closet feeling beautiful, confident and sassy. Of course, we can’t have our girlfriends over every morning to help us get dressed, but we can certainly create that experience EVERY SINGLE DAY! I know you’re thinking– Yea right Tiff. Trust me, it’s true! With a bit of focus, effort and planning you can create your very own closet sanctuary. HAPPY LEAP YEAR DAY! About every four years, we get an extra 24 hours of the year! Woohoo! How are you going to spend yours? What a luxury to get an entire extra day! I really love this time of year when Spring is approaching! One day may be 75 degrees then the next it could be 60 degrees. This is a sign that Spring is around the corner and I ALWAYS get a raging case of SPRING FEVER! I feel like a grizzly bear ready to come out from hibernation and shed the winter coats and furry boots!Hmmm, maybe more like a butterfly emerging from her cocoon! Yep, that’s sound better!
I popped into a new TJ Maxx last week and felt like Dorothy entering the Land of Oz! A 2-story magical place filled with colorful Spring clothes, shoes and handbags. HEAVEN!I was thrilled to find a few great MUST HAVE’s to share with you. If you are active on Facebook or Pinterest– forgive the repeat info, but I wanted to make sure you fabulous bloggers were in on the fun too!
COLORFUL JEANS!Last year, the red jean was on everyone’s ‘must have’ list- this year it’s all about the YELLOW jean. I found a great outfit online by Rag & Bone which totaled $495. just for the sweater and pair of jeans. NO LIE! Many of you have more important things to spend $500. on- like maybe important things like food and clothing for your children:-) I found a comparable version of that outfit at TJ MAXX for only $45. Of course, the quality of the fabric is different, but for a trendy piece (like colored denim) that you may not wear next season- this is a wiser investment!

SOMETHING MINTY FRESH!I was a bit iffy on MINT being the new hot color for Spring, but it’s grown on me. It’s fresh and feminine and pairs with a variety of other colors! Since I have so much yellow in my skin- mint isn’t flattering around my face, so I will opt for a jean/pant/skirt or a great HOBO BAG like this one from the Maxx…
CORK WEDGE! This is one my absolute favorite MUST HAVE’S for Spring! Every woman should have a great, go-to cork wedge in her shoe collection. A fresh twist for this Spring is a colorful wedge or one with a splash of color as an accent. These by Steve Madden are so fun! Only $40. HOLLA!
