LOVE OVER EGO: Love Never Fails

love-never-fails

Hello Lovelies,

One of the beautiful things about sharing your thoughts, experiences, growth, expertise & heart on a blog is that you can look back at your journey saved in one spot. It’s cathartic, it’s therapeutic, it’s healing. I did not set out on SOS with the intention of being a “blogger”. I was a TV host and actress who wanted to do videos sharing my beauty and style tips. My confidence as a writer was very low, but I knew I needed a home base on the internet for my info and videos.

This morning I was thinking about a Valentine’s post I shared a few years ago on 1 Corinthians 13 and went browsing back through my blog entries. (If you’re a blogger, I  highly recommend doing this a few times a year!) I just had to repost it today:

______________________________________

Yes, we all know it is the month for love and I’m fully aware that we have Valentine’s messages coming at us from all directions.  Does it make you want to puke already?  Well, be relieved– I am not going to talk about chocolates, lingerie or roses.  Usually my posts are colorful and whimsical.  Sorry, there’s no red or pink in today’s post.  I’m giving it to you straight and would rather share the simple but profound truth about love.  By now, if you have been following my blog for a while you know I have a strong faith in God and because of all the obstacles I’ve faced in life, I have had to work diligently on my “love walk”.  I admit I had become cynical toward love and it’s taken a while for my heart to soften.  Now it’s like puddy.

I have had a long journey to trusting and loving others.  This is where I have to give mad props to my hubby for being an example of love and humility every single day.  We just celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary on the 11th (crazy, we celebrated our 13th yesterday!) and I’m not sure if I would fully understand the purity of love if it wasn’t for him.   That man has put up with my walls, my anger and my issues. He just kept loving me through it all.  See, I allowed the wrong men in my life for years and with all the baggage I carried including ‘daddy issues’– I don’t think I truly understood real love until I found God.  Then, God brought my hubby and I was officially on the Love Train.. woot woot!  So– if you have a problem with the Bible, go ahead and log off this blog post now.  BUT, I would hope you would open your heart because I believe the Bible to be the very best ‘self-help’ book on the planet.  1 Corinthians 13 is known as the “Love Chapter” and it’s the greatest reminder of how we should all live our lives…….and not just on Valentine’s Day.

Do you love others easily?

What about the very difficult, high maintenance people?

Do you allow your ego to take over and judge others instead of showing love?

When we focus on coming from a place of love- AT ALL TIMES- instead of allowing our ego to take over, we remain in peace and peace is a place of power!  Many issues, squabbles and stupid altercations come from allowing our ego to rule over us.  I have to read 1 Corinthians 13 on a regular basis to keep myself in-check. Just sayin’.

LOVE NEVER FAILS!

Try it and you’ll see.  The next time  your ego takes over… STOP.  Picture yourself in the other persons shoes and approach the sitch from a place of love… NOT EGO!

Love Is The Best Investment

Audrey_love_investment

I encourage you to invest in yourself, too.

We cannot give away what we don’t have.

This quote by Audrey is so simple yet so powerful.

Make sure your own love tank is always filled up so you have a reservoir to give to others.

I had a massive week and am funning on fumes today so I plan to get in a pilates class this weekend, sit in the sauna with the new Spring magazines and hopefully get in a nap too.

What can you do this week to fill-er-up?

Wishing you a blessed Valentine’s Day and hope you all get huge returns on your investments today!

With love + gratitude,

Tiff

A DAY OF LOVE

STVALENTINES_LUNCHEON

HAPPY HEART DAY HOTTIES!

What does this day represent to you? To me, Valentine’s Day is “a day for the exchange of tokens of affection”. A kiss, a hug, a card, a smile, a wink, a pinch on the bootie, some chocolates, a phone call…whatever it is that expresses your affection and appreciation for those we love. As a little girl, my mom made a big deal out of Valentine’s Day and always surprised us with a beautiful card, maybe a cute necklace or earrings and plenty of candy. I will always cherish those memories!

Really, every day is Valentine’s Day – but, with the rush of life it is easy to overlook those little love tokens.

February 14th helps us to refocus on LOVE. We all speak a different Love Language– words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch– via The 5 Love Languages, a must read book! In order to have strong & healthy relationships, it’s important to take the time to learn what love language your loved ones speak, but the thing we are all unified in understanding is simple KINDNESS. Webster’s definition of Kindness: “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate”. Whether you are single and hanging out with your girlfriends tonight or have a romantic evening planned with a special someone-  let’s celebrate each other by showing MORE loving kindness.

This week I have been the recipient of an outpouring of LOVING KINDNESS and feel so blessed. I’ve been living in Dallas for 2 months now and have been embraced with open arms by so many wonderful people. The stereotype to describe peeps in the South as having “Southern Hospitality” is the honest truth. Wednesday, I was invited to join a table full of some of Dallas’ most fabulous (seen in photo above clockwise L to R) LeeAnne Locken, Karen Lukin, Christopher Wright, Steve Kemble, Dawn Belcher Neufeld, Jennifer Buxton, Jayne Chobot Herring – and Allyson Aynesworth & Hamilton Sneed (not shown) at the 30th Annual Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon & Fashion Show raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s. It was so refreshing to experience no ego & unconditional love at this table.  As we shared lunch, love tokens and laughs- it was stated that our “friends are the family we get to choose”. So true.

My love tank is full!

Wishing you all a beautiful day and may you

all be the recipients of

LOVING KINDNESS

today and everyday.

God Bless,

Tiff

Tiff’s 5 Style Rules (take it all with a grain of salt)

Hey Party People!

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day with more chocolate, hugs and kisses than you could handle!  Can you believe we’re half through February? Before long we’ll be tossing the sweaters for sundresses!  I’m ready for some highlights and a tan myself.

As always I LOVE the feedback, comments and webisode ideas you are sending in.   Several of you seem ready for a CHANGE and asked for tips on how to put together key outfits.  In the latest webisode, I give you 5 Simple Style Rules that I have lived by forever!  There will be several webisodes to come with more detailed outfit ideas!

STYLE RULE #1:  Never leave the house without a little sparkle or bling around your face!

If I’m heading to a workout or running to the grocery store, I always add a diamond CZ stud earring.  This just adds a little life around your beautiful face!

FOR MORE, WATCH WEBISODE…

Remember, we can all take a bit of style advice from French women and French designers!

Quality over Quantity.  Less is More.  Style over Trends.

Audrey Hepburn is the epitome of STYLE!

(even though she’s not French, she always wore Givenchy)

Just a few days ago, we lost a very talented yet very tortured soul- WHITNEY HOUSTON.  I’m sure like many of you, I have fond memories of dancing and singing along to her videos especially “How Will I Know”.  She was so adorable and I want to simply remember her that way. Rest in peace WH and God be with your daughter.

Sharing the love, beauty, style + inspiration,

xoTiff

P.S.   We had the trip of a lifetime in Aspen!  Big shout out to my BFF, Heidi and her hubby for the amazing hospitality!  We tore up the slopes in style, of course:-)
